I guess what you meant was not viewing it on black and white television. It was one of the first films to use color.

Yes, I saw it on a color TV my first time. No, it excited me but never scared me. Still love it to this day.

Parts of it were tense. It didn't scare me much since I was already old enough to know it wasn't real. What scared me a lot was a documentary about germs. They played scary music while talking about bacteria and showed pictures of cells. I was filled with fear that night in bed and imagined monsters in every shadow.

Yep loved it. Though the Wicked Witch and some of the munchkins creeped me out.
Return to Oz is also awesome but the scene where the lady has like a million heads gave me nightmares lol
Brilliant movies though

I wasn't afraid of anything when I was a kid. My parents were amazed that, when they got home at night, I would wander into a totally dark house, not afraid of ghosts or burglars. They were more afraid that I was.

At the age of 2, I was trained by my dad (one the the world's best martial artists) to do judo and jujitsu. Dad had his own TV program to demonstrate martial arts and weightlifting (sponsored by the US Marine Corps, of which, he was a soldier). He had been an instructor's instructor at the Marine Corps Institute, Washington, D.C.

So, when a 7 year old picked on me (I was an infant of age 2), I used Judo to throw him over a hedge. I was fearless, and in self control. Yet, my parents thought that I might become a bully, since I was so adept at defending myself when attacked.

Things are different now. I intentionally got close to those whom I felt were terrorists. I was right--they performed major acts of terrorism in the United States and have murdered many. They were into narcotics, money laundering narcotics money at the race track, fixing horse races, selling narcotics, possessing and using narcotics, distributing narcotics from large scale narcotics cartels (including the Medellin Drug Cartel of Colombia). They would intentionally addict young kids (no age limit), and once hooked on drugs, they would use the kids as sex slaves. Some of the older kids (aged 12 to 18) would get pregnant. It appeared that some were about to give birth, and it was too late for an abortion at 7 months, so they punched the pregant 12 year old girl in the stomach to kill the fetus and force an abortion. When asked why, they said "because the girl didn't want to get an abortion, and I did, and it was my way of making the abortion happen." One of the little 12 year old girls went to the hospital, and delived a badly bruised 7 month old fetus, that needed to be put in an oxygen tent. Struggling, it got partiallly blinded by the oxygen, and grew up wearing thick eyeglasses.

They would addict little girls, then have sex with them. Since the little 12 year old girls were hooked on narcotics, they were willing to do anything for more narcotics (initially the drugs were free). When asked why he kept getting little 12 year old's pregnant, he said that was because he didn't use a condom. When asked why not, he said that it felt better without one. He also said that he had venereal disease, but he didn't tell the little 12 year old sex slaves this, so they got the disease and didn't know what it was, nor did they go to a doctor to fix it, since they were ashamed of how they got the diseases, where the diseases manifested in their bodies, and ashamed of pregnancies. They feared that doctors would test them for drugs and they would be arrested and their babies taken away.

These 12 year old addicted and pregnant girls would sob tears on my sidewalk, sitting there for him to come home, across the street from my house, claiming that he had promised to marry them (that was just a ruse to have sex with them). Their family came outside and were screaming at the pregant 12 year old that they would have her arrested for being stoned and possessing narcotics, and they would take away her baby. Each of the little girls that they did this too cried the same thing "no, don't take my baby." Each of the pregant 12 year olds left. . . they had no choice. I reported it to the police, and the police said that I could not report it, the report had to come from the little girl or her parents. They feared beating, loss of narcotics, arrest, loss of their babies, etc.

The crazier the stunts, the less the police believed me. It did no good to spy on this group and report them.

His uncle was a 50 year old janitor at a school, who married a 25 year old teacher whose father just died, leaving her with numerous apartments and homes. She was a multi-millionaire. This uncle talked her into selling all of her land, and he lost all of her assets in Las Vegas in one weekend. He spent the rest of the marriage slapping his pregnant wife, telling her that he believes in slapping the b.....es around.

There was no redeeming quality in any part of the family. Unless, of course, you count their attendance in their Catholic church, and occasionally celebrate lent.

I don't fear fictional witches or TV shows. I do fear real people and I fear their actions. I fear for their innocent victims.

If the Communist party of the old Soviet Union decided to take over the United States by campaigning and voting in huge numbers, a lot of people would be concerned. They would fear that an oppressive organization, that has no ties with God is taking over the US.

Similarly, I am concerned that the Religious Right (which obviously has no ties to God) has voted in great numbers and has succeeded, time and time again, to take over the leadership of the United States. They are even running special elections to oust governors of various states, using the dissatisfaction of covid as a means of removing good people from office.

God said "thou shalt not kill." The Religious Right (Reverend John Hagee) said "pray to Jesus or we won't win the wars). In other words, pray to Jesus so that we can kill more effectively. The Religious Right is campaigning vigorously to fight against God, but they pretend that they are on God's side.

Religious Right candidates must be members of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Even legitimate war heros, like Senator John Kerry, whose celebrated heroism in Vietnam is legendary, was defeated by lies from "Veterans for Truth" (which finally admitted their lies). W. Bush was able to defeat McClellan (triple amputee Vietnam soldier) by misleading the public into believing that W. Bush (a draft dodger who was intentionally put in the Texas Air National Guard and taught to fly an obsolete plane that would never be used in battle) was a war hero and McClellan was not. Senator John Kerry even went hunting during the campaign, and the NRA (of which he was a member) was still campaigning against him, claiming that he was against guns.

Now that the Religious Right took over America (and appointed Supreme court justices for life terms), they have made a mess. Wars, torture camps (which they approve), ignoring the homeless, diseases, debt, environmental damage (including plastic pollution, Global Warming, smog), and catering to the rich, etc.

Former head of the CIA, Bush (senior) spied on US citizens, and took part (as Vice President) in the Iran Contra scandal (supporting Contra dictator, fighting Sandinistas who wanted educations for their kids and food to eat).

I fear the power of those who vote in great numbers, feigning belief in God and duping the masses of well-meaning Christians who think that they are getting real Christian leadership when, in point of fact, they are following Satan (Satan is for war, not God). Remember, God said "thou shalt not kill."

Yeah, I saw it as a kid, in color (except for the beginning and end parts which were in black and white). I don't recall being scared by it, although maybe I was a little. I do remember that I was somewhat perplexed about how Dorothy got to Oz by a tornado. When she stated that "we must be somewhere over the rainbow," I inferred that to mean that they were in some sort of strange construct out in space, since that would be above or over any rainbows on Earth - or perhaps another dimension or alternate universe. I think I was with my brother and mom watching it and asking them about these things, but they just told me to "shut up and watch the movie."

The three actors who played the farmhands and the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion reminded me of The Three Stooges. I wonder if they could have gotten The Three Stooges to play those roles.

Anyway, it was a classic film. I still occasionally enjoy watching it.

Since Mo Howard and Larry Fine were the only 2 constants, which iteration of the Three Stooges are you thinking of and why did Bert Lahr, Ray Bolger and Jack Hayley remind you of them?

Curly. As to the last question, I'm not sure why they reminded me of them. They just seemed kind of clownish, similar to the Stooges. Like when the Cowardly Lion says "Put 'em up," it could just as easily be Curly, "Oh, wise guy eh?"

The movie...'The Thing' with James Arness playing the alien was my first real scare at the movies.

That's very scary and has scary music.
A friend's mom took her son and I to see 'Psycho' ( at the 10 pm showing) when we were about 12 yrs old. The walk back to her car on a dark evening in an unattended parking lot was part of the scare. His mom told us,"If anything happens, just run". So reassuring of her !........How could we abandon his mom if a serious problem arose?
