Disaster! Obama will declare martial law over Republican caucus says cabinet secretary

In other words it really is invisible?
And the interpretation has been upheld by supreme court. In US, the term "martial law" doesn't really exist for the president, but effectively the suspension of habeas corpus is the same thing, just another phrase that has the same effect. Just because it doesn't say the term, doesn't mean that the actual acts work the same way.

My understanding is that the president has that power too. He shouldn't have, but it seems like that's how it's been interpreted (especially by Bush).
I haven't seen that anywhere. Has been used by a President?

Never mind, just saw your most recent post--had forgotten about Lincoln.

Yes. Lincoln.

Just Google "Lincoln Suspended Habeas Corpus"
Abraham Lincoln signed the bill into law on March 3, 1863, and suspended habeas corpus under the authority it granted him six months later. The suspension was lifted with the issuance of Proclamation 148 by Andrew Johnson, and the Act became inoperative with the end of the Civil War.

Bush tried to do the same thing, but was struck down because he went really far with it.

You guys just mucking round here right , those FEMA camps might just one day save your lives directly or indirectly . For a little while anyway .
Is only two viable just reason for FEMA
1 To provide emergency accommodation during time of national emergency.
2 To hold possible threats to national security within US during or before breakout of significant war .

What I see is whenever national emergency happen is US first thing one does is go looting ...

FEMA concentration camps, because everybody knows the high-rise towers with barbed wires, observation towers, and bright lights of a prison are actually death camps we'll all be rounded up into.

 Doubleplusungood.

And the Republicans freed the slaves.

Obama is as likely to start interning Conservatives as my Corgi is to start reciting Kibran.

Trump, on thr other hand .....
People letting their imaginations run wild regarding Trump.
But the problem is that they don't look critically at Hillary.
It even seems that they don't want to look at her at all,
lest they admit she's a hawk...you know...invading Iraq.

Any publication with Palin on the masthead cannot be taken seriosly.

Clown shoes.

If anyone uses concentration camps it'll be that fascist pr1ck Trump.

The best quote I've ever heard about Trump was from Cornell West.

“The problem with Trump is is that he’s a multi-billionaire pseudo-populist with autocratic sensibilities, and some fascist proclivities. That’s what’s dangerous about him.”

It's best if you hear it from the man himself....

The problem with your perspective is that Hillary is one of the only ones on the board with any actual experience. It's like when administrations are shopping for supreme court justices. The less history they have the better chance they have of being confirmed.

For example, as Secretary of State Hillary was forced to do things that probably any SOS would have had to do in her shoes and most of those were not even her decision.

I recall how in 2008, Dems dismissed experience as useless.
Why?
Obama had none.
Now it matters.
Why?
Hillary has some.
My problem is with what she's done in acquiring experience.

Her SOS experience isn't the part which concerns me.
Her experiences prior to her Benghazi & email adventures tell me a more important story.

Everyone wants experience, it's what kind that matters. Ideally you have a governor in a state in a recovery, who hasn't done anything controversial, but who can claim the credit for the upswing.

That may be true for you. I'm not so sure with the rest of the nation. Benghazi, for some unknown reason, still seems to be a hot topic for many people.
