Disney Movies Disturbing???

nutshell

Well-Known Member
The following quote comes from another thread about Disney movies:

not a fan of disney---the symbolism behind many of the movies is very disturbing

 What's this about? I'd love to hear more about the very disturbing symbolism in Disney movies. I'm hoping there is more than the phallic image in Triton's castle. I look forward to learning more about this and will surf the net to find some things on my own.

Or the symbolism expressed in "The Song Of The South" and that it has been speculated that Walt Disney may have been racist.

I have a christian friend who is extremely anti disney, and ive heard that mentioned bout the phallic image in tritons castle on little mermaid (which has the best disney songs!!) and i just dont see how a child would get that, many objects could be that shape, i dont think it was put in deliberately, and i think its all in the minds of adults that see sex in everything.
A few things i also heard claimed is that in aladin, he whispers something like " good girls sleep around" and that in lion king its written on the sand "sex" i think these things are all thought up by people who are crude and see rude things in all they watch. Does anyone really think disney are trying to pervert the minds of kids??

disne owns everything.... even things that people who force their kids to watch the Disney channel would cringe for knowing. I think they sponsor many things that are anti-christian (meaning not purely innocent). Disney is a corporation, and like any corporation, they'll do what it takes to make money, even if it's not in a "standard"

I think it's just usually the case of animators puting little sly things in, after all, they don't get paid much and are overworked.

meh...
Wasn't Walt Disney a Mason? He may have stuck some Masonic imagry into his cartoons, but I don't know enough about any of that to be able to talk about it inteligently :)

The only movie of Disney's that I've found disturbing is Aladdin; and that's only because I had a nightmare about it. If you want to find something disturbing in something innocent, you will.

this is mostly directed at me, so i will give a few links of research that i have done....please understand that i DO NOT believe everything i read, but i have seen these movies used in these ways, the victims are rather undeniable once you understand the symbols

If you click on the link above and CTRL+f you will see a search box, type in Disney, scanning thought that document for Disney, Fantasia, Alice in Wonderland, wizard of Ox (non disney but we might as well cover this one) and Little Mermaid et al you should see my reasons.

i think it's funny that Alice in Wonderland was written about some guys Acid trip LOL and disney took it... which proves once again that the only real creative things that have ever been done have been enhanced by something illegal :p

"Song of the South" was so typical of the prevailing attitudes at the time it came out that if Disney was racist, he was just one among hundreds of thousands. I think you really have to look at the culture of that period of time to see that his views were probably pretty representative of the times.

Well, in just about all the Disney cartoon movies the mother ends up dying. That's pretty disturbing!

... yeah, I'm grasping at straws here. I've never found Disney movies particularly disturbing.

Children will not understand, it is not the magic that is evil but rather the person wielding it is. Therefore, anything else associated with the witch or implications of her will also be considered evil. A child's mind is probably more versatile and understanding than you may think. (Some of the connections that I now offer may seem "obscure"; try to suspend some of the social programming and take on a more "child like" thought process.) My cousin wouldn't eat apples for almost a full year after seeing this film... moving along.
I won't read anymore than that. Has the author forgotten that disney also made Sword and the Stone? I watched that movie dozens of times as a kid, and it portrays magic being used by Merlin is a good way. Also by a witch in a bad way.
