Do atheists PRAY to anybody ?

In a situation of extreme danger and duress like that, a person may become hysterical or incoherent. Panic may set in, causing a person to freeze up or scream in terror. As you say, the mind is incapable of thinking anything? Are you so certain that "true prayer starts automatically"?
Many are so certain of things they just make up.

Yes am certain that a true prayer automatically starts when a person is supportless :)

Prayer starts, where thinking ends in danger.

In your opinion, certainly not in mine or any other atheist i know. You want to pray to a belief thats fine but don't tell me what i should do, i have been in life or death danger 3 times, trust me on this, i did not pray.

I can't recall any moments which might qualify as "extreme danger." I've heard people say "there are no atheists in foxholes," but then again, if someone is going through something traumatic and under extreme duress, they might be inclined to believe in just about anything.

I've had a couple of moments, including standing in the back of a utility car that was attacked in Papua New Guinea. We were driving at 60kmh through a village and got ambushed with people throwing stones down at the car, between fist and head sized.

Pretty dangerous. God didn't cross my mind at all.

Dear, a situation where mind is still working and making expressions like -- pray to? Poseidon? Neptune? Njord? blah? blah? blah? It means one has NOT yet realized an extreme danger.

A situation where a vacuum happens in the mind, and mind becomes incapable of thinking anything -- that is known as extreme danger, and a true prayer starts automatically in such situation, regardless of one is theist, or atheist. :)

Can you please just ask us, rather than tell us what we believe and how we act?

Firstly, no need to tell anybody what to do because a true prayer starts automatically when the time comes.
Secondly, praying to higher-self = praying.

You'd be better placed to use the ears God gave you and not tell us how we behave in dangerous situations. This might be frivolous postings on your part but you're literally asking us about the most dangerous moments in our life, and telling us how we responded. Which is blatantly ridiculous and quite insulting. Please desist.

Please provide a peer reviewed paper describing this BS

Do atheists PRAY to anybody when they find themselves in extreme danger ? :)
Ahh another "no atheist in the foxhole" question; huh? I remember talking to a person who was not an atheist; who found himself in a very dangerous situation where he thought he was going to be killed. I asked him if he prayed, he responded that he was so focused on doing what was necessary to spare his life that praying was the last thing on his mind. If theists don't pray when in danger, why on earth do you think an atheist would?

Some people might pray under such extreme duress, but I can't see how it can be true for everyone. I could even see how a theist might be so panicked as to forget to pray when in extreme danger. Everyone is different, so I would think individual responses to extreme danger would be varied.

Just post better threads, and listen to people different to you when you're posing questions.

Otherwise it's just a monologue you're dressing up as a dialogue.
You need a companionship, likes and all that to debate, but I don't.
Have some courage to just speak and stand for yourself :)
