i cannot say i've had a recurring dream as such, but how "ex" is this old boyfriend? What does the dream involve? Liklely, as we get into it, you may see it's probablythe brain sifting through undealt with issues through visual interpretation while you sleep.

This ex I have had the recurring dreams about is about 20 years old and currently serving in the United States military. I dated him like 4 years ago and we dated for a total of almost 3 months. The dreams are romantic (not necessarily sexual), but they do have a quality like sort to it. I hope that answers your question.

It could mean that you still have feelings for your ex. Or it could mean that you have a genuine care and worry for him. I wonder, do you keep in touch on a "just-friends" basis?

I used to keep in touch with him, but it was probably over a year ago. I dont know what he is doing now or where is he now, all I know is that he serves in the U.S. Military.

The dream may not even be about him in particular. It could be that you're just wanting to find someone if you're not in a relationship now. Or if you are, maybe there's something about him that you wish you're current guy was more like. Or your brain could just be entertaining you. :) It could be any number of things. Since is recurring, I'm sure it means something though.

I agree with Unedited , Dreams can be many things . And unless one knows what the symbolism in the dream means to you personally , they can only guess at any meaning the dream may have . Now you have said that he serves in the U.S. Military twice L4M . Perhaps it is just concern over his well-being ? Or that of another close to you ?

Dreams are fragments of memory that comes as a result of your subconsciousness. Dreams are often random though even the littlest of details during the day or factors that affect the physical body during sleep (such as temperature, texture, colors, and sounds) can alter the dream itself, it's events, and how it ends.

Sigmund Freud theorized that dreams are how the mind, both conscious and subconscious, purge and reorganize information stored in the brain.

If you're interested in dreams and the subconscious mind in general, I greatly recommend a book called The Interpretation of Dreams by Sigmund Freud. Great read for any age.

I've always seen dreams as more of a gateway into the real person. Something in a dream can be symbolized differently from person to person, but there is usually some significance to a dream, or it can just be entertainment.

Sigmund Freud was ... well , so freudian . ;) I perfer Jungs work , the little that I know .

The strange thing is , I have met people in dreams before I have actually met them . Now , some would say that I just replaced the image of the people in the dreams with real people . However , once I met a person , who I never did meet . She was the girl friend of a friend , and even though I had been told very little about her , other then hair colour and that she was cute { like how many bfs say that their gfs are ugly ... } . I was able to decribe her in detail , even the clothes and jewelry that she was wearing . And I was 100% on the mark .

Can't recall the temperature that night though . :)

I started keeping a dream journal. When I wake up, I record every major detail about my dreams, that way people can't automatically assume my mind changed the details of the dream to match details of the real world.

Yes, dreams mean something, but I can not tell you what it is. There are some pretty cool dream interpretation websites, you should research your dream yourself.

Every detail in your dream is a reflection of you, somehow, maybe something your dealing with, something you left behind, or something you are heading towards. And you have to examine all the parts to find a big picture.

Think about your dream, and search the meaning of anything that stands out in your mind. If you remember a red lamp in your dream look up lamp and red. Or maybe you dreamed that you and your ex were swimming in a pond with a boat tied up to a dock, you would look up boat, and pond, and water, and swimming. And put all those interpretations together to form a larger meaning to your dream.

Kreeden, you are a seer!!!!!!

What a beautiful gift. I wish I knew of a way for you to practice such a skill, unfortunately we ignore these kinds of talents, like a musician who is never even picks up an instrument.

My gradfather told me to keep a journal;

We dream during every REM period, and when we awake, our minds try to connect all the dreams into one composite one.

A typical example is when you are in your bedroom, open the door, and find yourself on a tennis court - whatever; the mind is merely connecting two dreams.

I don't keep a journal now - I don't think I could ! - one of the symptoms of FMS is that sufferers spend most of the night in REM sleep,( which is why we feel very tired all the time.)

People can , and will , think what they want . Ain't nothing going to change that . :)

ES . No , I'm a dreamer . ;) I don't think it is anything unusual , nor anything one can control . It just happens . The trick is remembering enough of your dreams ...

I've heard that before, all-though I've never experienced it. When I dream, it's like I'm in two places at once. I know the dream isn't real, but at the same time, I'm a part of the dream as if its real. I also know how many dreams I had in one night, and can seperate them all.
