Do humsters have souls?

Today I learned something new. Human hamster hybrids are a real thing and are not all that rare. A humster, as the name implies, is a hybrid using human sperm and a hamster ovum. Don't worry, they are not viable (we hope) and are killed off very early. One of the uses of them is to test the viability of human sperm when planning to use them in in vitro fertilization.

Leviticus 19:19 forbids this kind of thing,

You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle breed with a different kind. You shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor shall you wear a garment of cloth made of two kinds of material.

Probably for a good reason...

I doubt God will imbue it with a soul.

I don't have one.
My God wouldn't tell me anyway, it's not his business answering questions from idiots like me

If he answered my questions then he'd have to answer everyone's questions and that wouldn't do

I found it interesting that the hamster ovum was described as "promiscuous" but nothing was said about sperm that would mate with anything as well. I guess that some ova are more discriminating and that hamster ova are sluts. And sperm, since they are male, are just dogs that will do anything, including a leg if nothing else is handy.

As an animist I'd say all are soul/spirit/thing - the question for the animist isn't if something is an individual one can relate to, but how one can relate to it and how meaningful that relationship is. So while, for example, I acknowledge that early chromosomal and developmental states of are soul/spirit/thing there is unlikely to be any meaningful relationship with all such states. I won't say it is impossible to have one, but it would certainly be unusual. That said, there are other principles that would prohibit such chimeric research. Neither here nor there.

I was going to ridicule you mercilessly for the typo but then I read the post. That was disappointing.

No doubt god will get you big time for your
sinful clothing.

The Orthodox and Catholic churches would say yes, (non-human) animals have souls. Different than human souls, but yes.

But a hamster/human hybrid? Hmm...
