Do Paranormal Events And Interest Lead To The Occult?

I have had my fair of UFO discussions where they have always lead to one thing-Satan.

It seems to start with UFOs, turns into telepathy, turns into channeling, turns into talking to the dead, turns into spell casting, life insurance, deal with the devil…SATAN!!

Some religions seem to keep an open mind about other-worldly existences, some would frown or discourage their members from continual research or interest into this field.

Do ghosts, UFOs, Near Death Experiences, spirit guides lead people into a dangerous life towards the occult? What does your religion advise about learning this kind of knowledge?

Organized religion--for instance Christianity, considering we're discussing Satan (or Santa)--tends to favor social stability. The paranormal, despite its popularity, tends towards subjects that are on the fringe of human knowledge.

In other words, ghosts and UFOs are great media and Hollywood subjects, but the serious study of them gets a little hairy (especially with them cryptozoologists :D). Seriously studying something that isn't mainstream knowledge isn't the best thing for social stability.

I have heard that people who had encounters with UFOs have turned to psychics or the occult but this seems to be the only way they can try to get some answers about their encounters. Even hypnosis is a practice that some religions would not agree to.

I suppose it depends on what you call "paranormal."

I've done a lot of reading about aliens, Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster, and a host of other American paranormal folklore, and I've never gotten the sense that it leads to the occult.

Hi cardero! Have you considered that maybe cultish activity leads to paranormal events? By cult activity i dont necessarily mean satanic activity as in satanism. But divination, sorcery, and stuff like that is strangely enough something that likes to stay in families. They are otherwise knows as familiar spirits who help to bring about paranormal activity.

Yes I have considered this possibility but the ones that I am more familiar with is the UFO contactees that have had encounters that usually begin New Age sects based upon the messages that they have received from their "Space Brothers".
