Depends on the person. Some do, some don't. I would venture to say folks get less flexible as they age, as the subconscious gets set. 'You can't teach an old dog new tricks.'

Some do. Some become less so.

I've always had a 'religious drive', but its become more pronounced as I aged.

My father was a "you're gonna burn in Hell" kinda guy when I was young, but has become more tolerant and more of a "live and let live" type as he's aged.

His mother was quite outwardly Christian for most of her life, but in her later years has hardly any concern for religion at all.

I am 86 years old and have been a non believer for many years and as I get closer to the end of life nothing is changing.
Options: Yes, No. Multiple votes are allowed. :)

I made use of that.
Yes, religious people are getting more religious.
No, people who are not extremely religious are getting more discontent with religion.

What does it mean to be religious? That's not so simple of a question to answer given how diverse the cultural phenomena of religion is and how, by extension, diverse expressions of that cultural phenomena are.

I might reframe the question as "do humans become more or less devoted to that which they deeply value as they age?" to be as neutral about it as I can. I would say in most cases, they do - as one ages, one figures out who one is, what one's place is in the world, what one values. Short of some life trauma that upends one's way of life, one deepens one's devotion to that way of life (e.g., becomes "more religious").

Not as old as you, about 20-years behind BUT I am certainly not getting more religious. If anything it is the opposite.

I'm only mumble mumble and got a few years to catch up with you and an have moved from a religious child to out and our atheist. I find the opposite is happening to me, the more i understand about religion the less i like its concepts.

Couldn't answer for others, but I was devoutly religious when younger then as I learned more religion no longer made sense to me.

Can I ask why you see nothing is changing?

Did you have a good life to date, or did you face many challenges with much loss?

My guess is you would have seen some war in your life, maybe Vietnam?

Edit, I see Korea Veteran, sorry missed the cap. ;) wow you were 17 when that started, being young and in war changes everyone.

Depends on the quality of heart decisions one makes - age has nothing to do with it. Whether you believe in God or not... it is the measure of one's heart decision that makes our future.

Regardless... Christmas is a reminder that in Christianity we believe God loves mankind and gave His son for us. Hanukkah is another celebration that recognizes there is a God. To each his own faith.

I have been trying to figure out a way to give thanks and celebrate life. I can't afford a gong with which I can greet the morning. So I try to keep seated in my mind that I'm one lucky nut to have been here. Each sip of morning coffee is a sacred right, with many more throughout the day.:)
