Do these debates help anyone?

I came on here thinking that discussing my views as a JW would help me, you know, to help discuss things helps me to think things through. If anything, the opposite is true, people on here seem so sure about what they believe in, and its frustrating things have become so confusing. The ammount of faiths, beliefs in this world are enourmous.

I read sites about JWs and found so much hate against them. I feel people hate me and when im going out to preach, im genuinely trying to help them. It takes alot of effort and courage to preach to what seems, a world that doesnt listen. If anything, i feel discouragment from the views i've read. People seem so hateful towards what i consider my brothers and sisters who are only trying to help, its sad.

Yer, ofcourse there are bad people in the orgnanisation, what do you expect? People sure focus on the negative side don't they.

I'm leaving this place and i'll continue preaching as a JW no matter what you throw at me.

Remember my fellow brothers and sisters. Its always easier to run from this world.. but stand steady, keep fighting the attacks and continue preaching.

Peace out

Well, I'm sorry to see you're leaving, but I'm glad that people's hard headedness hasn't made you lose all hope in what you're doing. Now there will just be may to debate the JW point of view. :(

There's hate against most religions. It's not something you can avoid. I read sites about LDS and find a ton of hate against them, but I've found this site to be, for the most part, not very hateful. Plus, it's a good opportunity to try to explain some of the inaccuracies that make people hate me.

You got that right, and I admire your courage. I hope your courage serves you well. Remember, though, sometimes people pretend not to care because of how much they actually do care. People get angry when they have to think. If people are getting angry it usually means you're making them think, which is all you can ask for. Have a nice life.

It's sad that you're leaving, and I'm sorry to see it. These debates, so far, have helped me. I'm able to think on things that I haven't for awhile. This is helping me find myself and hopefully it will help me find my spiritual place. People like you, who do preach and state your opinion, are exactly what people like me need in this forum.

Actually, I've participated in debates with you and I want you to know that although our views may differ, I truly respect the input that you've given and have appreciated the time and thought that you've put into your posts.

I'll be sad to see you go and honestly, hope you'll reconsider.

I admire your passion and sincerity about your religion and have appreciated the contributions that you've made. There's a lot that I don't understand about other religions and that's one of the reasons that I'm here as well. I love to share...but I also truly love to learn what's on the hearts and minds of others.

I think you're a stellar representative of your faith and that you have a lot to offer others who are seeking answers. Not everyone will agree with your religion. And not every thread will be in support of your views but that applies to ALL of us. And despite our differences, I think we can all contribute something positive here.

I extend warm wishes, peace, love and virtual (((hugs))). :)

Immigrant,

I hope you will reconsider. I'm not a JW, but as a Latter-day Saint, believe me I see a lot of hostility directed towards me, too, as well as a ton of ridicule for my beliefs. Hang in there. You have a right to your beliefs and if you cave in to pressure from jerks, nobody wins.

Most of the members of RF are either very strong in their faith, or have studied very hard on their own faith, and also are seasoned debaters. You may want to just sit back, and post questions and learn from them. It may be better if you want to stay with your JW faith to continue your fellowship with JWs and learn more on your own faith, instead of seeking answers in this RF which some members may be trying very hard to convince you to switch your faith over.

I'm sorry to see you leaving. There is so little I know about the JW faith that I don't know about yet. I hope you change your mind in the future and come back to share your thoughts and opinions.

Sad to see you go. Many faiths see persecution and persist. I think your one that can persist if you only show love and patience with those who don't understand. Just pick your battles and be charitable. If your nice, most people here won't ignore you. Those that are mean and rude will be handled by the staff. I also hope you reconsider.

Thanks people. I remember a scripture now that says something like 'if you are no part of the world, the world will hate you'. but Im convinced i have the truth, but on these boards, i think i'd end up just argueing about it which i don't what to do.

Maybe i was a bit hasty posting my thoughts, but sometimes the world can get to me, probably because of the injustice. I should know i'll experience hatred.

I'll probably come back in a few months to check up on things.

It would be imperative if we knew what areas you needed help in or to what conclusion you are trying to reach. If you were expecting people to coddle or conform to your beliefs the debate section would not be the most productive place to be.

Yes, that is an interesting and just way to put it. You must also consider all the other beliefs that we all may be unfamiliar with. On the debate forums you will discover the least we can do is share our beliefs and the most we can accomplish is that people will think about what we posted and compare it to what they already K(NOW).

The kind of genuine help that people require today is more of a practical, physical type of aid. If you have noticed in your door to door ministry and also on these forums, there is not a shortage of people in need of adopting and practicing alternative beliefs.

Personally I do not judge an organization by their members but it is their beliefs that I must question. If you did not make any mention of the organization that you belong to, your beliefs would be respected but still come under scrutiny and suspicion.

No, what you have is faith and the hope that hate and persecution equals Truth. Do not reason your beliefs with hope and faith, reason them with logic and wisdom.

If faith is what you are encouraging, then yes, you would not want to encourage a debate or entertain different belief systems for there is a chance that your faith may become disturbed or shaken. If you are here to defend your beliefs I can assure you, you will need to rely on and produce more substantial information than one source to justify your claims.

There are many highly regarded members on Religious Forums that we can all learn from (yourself included), this is why we participate, this is why we come back for more.
