Do women have the right to divorce ?? In Islamic law ???

From searching the word 'divorce' in the Quran, there is nothing addressing women directly that they may divorce a man. The Quran addresses men only, regarding divorcing their women.

Insofar as men may divorce their women, does seem fair in it's description, that a man should divorce his woman with honour and give her what is due to her.

But it is not specified that she has the right to divorce her man.

But in the book Sahih Bukhari there is a story:

Volume 7, Book 63, Number 199 :
Narrated by Ibn 'Abbas

The wife of Thabit bin Qais bin Shammas came to the Prophet and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I do not blame Thabit for any defects in his character or his religion, but I am afraid that I (being a Muslim) may become unthankful for Allah's Blessings." On that, Allah's Apostle said (to her), 'Will you return his garden to him?" She said, "Yes." So she returned his garden to him and the Prophet told him to divorce her.

So perhaps they do. Sahih Bukhari : Book of "Divorce"

the right to divorce is in islam but it has conditions. one of them is that if the husband doesn't gives the woman the home's money for 6 months, the woman can take divorce.
but it's better to have the family build than to give it up.
i don't know the complete rules for divorce but there are sources, in Judiciary system of iran, you can see the laws in there.

Is Islam in Iran have another copy of the Koran
It's the same Koran
The same teachings
Only there is a difference in some of the teachings
In the issue of divorce all Islamic schools
Have the same source
Divorce right not owned by women in Islam
This is a clear distinction
Women have the right to differentiate
If the man refused to divorce
There are Mkhalah
The mean Almkhalah
The woman waives all rights
Then the judicial differentiate them
The divorce arbitrary right hand only man in the Islamic sharia law

Peace to all.
If one has to read the Noble Quraan for an answer to the question of weather women can intiate divorce in Islam then you will have difficulty in finding your answer.
On the other hand if one has to study the Noble Quraan then the answer will be very glaring.
Yes........women can most certainly intiate divorce in Islam according to the Noble Quraan.
Study chapter 2 Surah Baqarah.
Once again study the entire verse and not just read it.
The answer is glaring.
Women has the right to divorce.

I'm still not seeing it specified. The Quran is clear on most things; and a woman's right to initiate divorce doesn't appear to be one of them.

Yet I still credit the Quran with at least allowing divorce and remarriage.

Hello Treks
"of all the lawful acts the most detestable to Almighty God is divorce"
The above are words from the mouth of our most beloved Prophet (may peace and blessings upon him).
Treks as much as the guidance of Islam strives to maintain the sacred institution of marriage if for any valid reason any one of the partners(husband or wife) are unhappy then either party has a right to intiate divorce.
Note there is a process that needs to be followed for either party to intiate a divorce.
In the case of a husband he has to announce his declaration of divorce but in the case of a wife she needs to ask her husband to announce the declaration of divorce. In most cases if the husband refuses to announce because he refuses to give his wife her freedom then the wife has the right to intiate such divorce via the shariah courts.
Note all 4 madhabs are unaimous that a wife can intiate divorce because its in the Noble Quraan.
Finally the only reason you cannot see it in the Noble Quraan is because you are reading the verse without understanding it.You will only see it if you study the verse.
Once again its very glaring in chapter 2.Almighty gives women the right to intiate divorce in under a few words.
Happy studying.
Peace
Farouk
