Do you believe Biden(who will be 82 this Nov) is competent enough for another 4 year presidential term?

Its a yes or no question. If you don't know then don't answer.

This isn't about Trump, its about Biden.. so don't get off topic and derail the thread. Instead start a thread.

I dislike him & many of his agendas, but he's competent.
His mental & physical aging appear to be normal.
A President has staff to provide support that is
effective for an aging brain.

Will he last 4 years?
I'll estimate yes.

Probably not, but it is what it is. I'll still vote for sleepy creepy Joe aka Dark Brandon

It really doesn't matter to me if Biden can do another 4 years or not. Whomever takes his place will take his place without any difficulty and will do essentially all the same things. Because that's how the democratic party operates. And given the total collapse and glaring incompetence within the republican party at this time, Biden or his replacement will do an infinitely better job than any republican candidate could, even of the less insane ones.

Right now Trump and his cult of idiots need to be purged from the republican party before that party can be allowed to retain any control in high office, at all. Because right now they are all bent on destroying democracy itself.

So all this huffing and puffing about Biden's age and diminishing faculties is completely meaningless. All that really matters at this moment in time is that the current republican party be excised from government as fully and completely as possible because it will not purge itself of these lunatics and traitors. We will have to do it for them, or we will suffer the consequences (even more than we are already) of we do not.

Biden is perfect for a puppet president.

Easy to control and to tell what to do with a bit of free roaming to make people think he is not a puppet president but still able to reign him in where he can change his mind and essentially tell people that's not what I meant.

Sure. What aspects of the job do you think Biden can't handle?

But that's what the question really comes down to. Seeing that Biden is a lock for the Democrat nomination and Trump seems heading that way as well (subject to the Supreme Court ruling), there are only two practical options. Dumping Biden means picking Trump, so "Biden isn't competent enough to be President" becomes "Biden is so incompetent that Trump should be elected."

You may not want to compare them, but it's inevitable.

Yes. Partially that's based on my own 78 years and friends who are even older - into their 80's. "Fluid intelligence" diminishes but "crystallized intelligence" remains strong which means that judgement can be strong and Biden knows the world and has dealt with it for many decades.

The media obsesses with his verbal gaffs but ignores Trumps (among other things about Trump).

This is a very interesting point. Thank you for sharing your perspective

I don't think it matters because ultimately the president isn't that important.
Firstly, they only hold 1/3 of the power of the Federal government. Then there all of the state governments that have their power separate from the Federal.

Our system is designed to limit the power of any one individual. So whether Biden or Trump get elected, I don't think it is going to be as destructive to our government as people like to think.

Agreed. Otherwise known as "wisdom".

I do wish that the Dems had chosen a replacement a while back while there was time to groom the replacement, but it's too late now. I'm OK with Biden's competence, but he lacks a certain "charisma" that is so useful in election campaigns. In short we need another Obama. That said, I'm OK with Biden so long as he gets elected. Oh, and I'm fine with Kamala too, I think she is a lot better than people think.

I voted yes. The choice is simple in November, preventing a Trump presidency.
There's only 1 way to do that, voting for President Biden.
Nothing else matters.
And that is your reason you will vote for Biden.

I suspect several or many of the yes votes didn't vote based on if Biden is competent but rather voted yes because of this competitor, which is a different subject.

I voted yes because I think he is competent enough to manage the Presidency.

However much I would prefer a more progressive candidate, I do think that Biden's team has done and tried to do some positive things. And in the end, he is a necessary check against any legislation that the kooks in the House might conjure and gets through the senate (however unlikely that is).

That's my reason. And I feel he's competent enough to do the job.

It's not like the job is difficult. There's a lot more people involved with the decision making process.

I voted "yes" because the key word was "competent".

Competent enough? Yes.

Had the question delved further into questions of policy or practicality though... there's always the chance my answer would change to "no".
