Not unreasonable, no. It's useless, though, at least in what we were discussing. Keep in mind that wherever you have fact, you also have fiction. One is not the ultimate good and the other the ultimate evil. You have learned to make fact your ally. Faith, religion, spirituality, whatever you want to call it, shows you how to make fiction your ally as well.

If whether or not your beliefs are true doesn't matter to you, then there's really nothing more to discuss.

If you have them, then at some level, they are true. Otherwise you wouldn't have them. Most beliefs aren't true at the physical level. They aren't true at the psychological level either. Most are buried so deep that we don't even know we have them. We are blind to them.
Truth has no issue here. If you do not have a belief, then it is not true. If you do, then it is. It's up to you to figure out how true that belief is, and more importantly, why it was true at all in the first place.

Surely religion divides as much as it unites?

Yes but it's this threat of division which will keep people within the faith and therefore closely tied to the community.

There's a lot of stuff in religion that can go eg the repression of women, homophobia etc. But there are some good things as well.

So i say let them believe what they want as long as they don't try and force their beliefs on others.

Yes, they are only "true" in my imagination - what we generally refer to as "not true". Seriously, if you're going to go down this road, then there's nothing to talk about.

And is your imagination not a part of you? Do you honestly believe that you can keep in from influencing your logical reasoning, when you deny it...but don't even know what it's made up of?
