Do you? If yes, what kind of life after death? Physical body? Only Soul? Reincarnation? Others?

How do you feel about the fact that you or your loved ones die some day? Feel sad? Indifference? Happy?

Share what your scriptures says about death. I share from Bahaullah:

O SON OF THE SUPREME! I have made death a messenger of joy to thee. Wherefore dost thou grieve? I made the light to shed on thee its splendor. Why dost thou veil thyself therefrom?

Yes I do believe in life after death.
The kind of life after death with many possibilities included depends on how one lived his/her previous life

Of course, being a normal human I'll feel sad for my loved ones. But, NOT for myself. :)

Curious with a dash of fear. Hopeful but more than willing to wait as long as possible.

Death is common to all. It is a necessary step forward towards life. The soul changes into a new abode, and thus death means no more than changing your coat. Or it may be compared with sleep.

The difference between death and sleep is that, after the first, one wakes up again in a new body, while in the latter one becomes conscious of the same body. Worldly people do not go into hysterics after one who goes to sleep at night, because they expect to see him awake again. Then why not exercise the same indifference when he sleeps the sleep of death, since he is bound to wake up again sooner or later in a new body? C. B. Purdom: Death And The Cry Over It

After death the spirits of human beings (except for those who have sufficiently progressed on the spiritual path and are beyond the fourth plane) reach the semi-subtle sphere. According to their Sanskaras they go to 'heaven' or to 'hell,' and when they achieve the point they had to attain they can return to earth with a new body (reincarnate), or otherwise they return to the semi-subtle sphere for a certain time.
Meher Baba: On Life After Death

From the psychological point of view, death entails no slightest curtailment of individual existence. This does not mean that the surviving mind remains unaffected by the kind of death which severed the individual from the body. Both the condition of the mind as well as its capability to progress further in the life-after-death are often substantially determined by the conditions surrounding the death.

Trickster, mind provides the comfort of at least next 10 more years of life to every person, even to those who are already quite very old. :)

Whereas truth says there's a doubt that human will take another new breath, or NOT.

I don't believe there is any form of "life" after death. My mind and my consciousness are the product of my brain and once it stops working, so will I vanish.

I do feel sad about my own motality and those of the people I love. My life is enjoyable and there is so much to learn, discover, feel and experiment. The prospect of death is also fairly scary. Though it will come with its fai share of pain, it's inevitable thus not something that commands great fear and anxiety. I'd rather to focus on my life and maybe even my legacy than my death, but I hope to live as long as I can for as long as I find my life enjoyable.

We live on in the memory of others and in our impact on the world.

I don't think that there's any sort of literal afterlife, but I couldn't vote for "death is the end." Your death is only the end if you assume the story is about you.

I have lived with a woman for almost 50 years that has the gift(?) of talking to those who have passed. This is not something I say lightly because I have been a true skeptic at times, but I have been present when she has conveyed messages from complete strangers to people we have just met. The energy that is you are continues even after the person that is you doesn't.

Forgive my skepticism, but considering that cold reading is a fairly common skill and that the energy that is me is electro-chemical, it cannot continues after my death. The only thing of me that will remain after my death and for as long as the universe continues to roll as it does is the matter composing my body.

If yes, what kind of life after death?

Physical body?.....Yes. If I die, I am looking forward to being resurrected back to mortal human life on earth, the way God designed us to be in the first place. He made humans mortal because he intended them to live forever here on earth in paradise conditions. Being mortal doesn't mean you HAVE to die...only that you CAN. Physical beings require physical things to keep living....air...food...water...

God had provided two special trees in the garden of Eden, (apart from all the fruit trees)....eating of one meant death, and the other meant continuing life. God did not intend for us to die, but to live forever to enjoy his creation, so having access to 'the tree of life' meant no aging, sickness or death. When humans disobeyed God's command, he ensured that the death penalty would be carried out by removing access to the only means that he supplied to keep them alive perpetually......"the tree of life". (Genesis 3:22-24) No human was to gain access to that tree again, until the restoration of all things. (Revelation 22:1-2)

Only Soul? Yes.....since I believe that the human soul is the person themselves......the soul is a living breathing creature. (Both man and animals) The word "soul" never means a disembodied spirit. There is no immortal soul in the Bible. The person (soul) is what is resurrected.

Reincarnation? No. We only get one life. We did not exist before birth and we will not exist after death....until the resurrection when God will restore life by means of his son. (John 5:28-29)

Others? Yes. Some specially chosen ones will attain to life in heaven to assist Jesus in his role as King and High Priest. These will be resurrected as spirits and join Jesus in heaven as fellow "kings and priests" in the heavenly Kingdom, restoring humankind to the perfection of mind body and spirit that was lost in Eden. These will be resurrected "first". (Revelation 20:6)

The prospect of everlasting life is actually programmed into the human psyche. Ask any human in reasonable health if they want to die....or to pick a date for their death...and it feels uncomfortable to even contemplate not being here anymore. Even when we grow old, our minds remain young. Age is a state of body...the mind is forced against its will to surrender to the limitations of an aging body. Dementia adds to the sadness and futility of it all.

If we take the Bible's account of creation in Genesis, we see that there is no mention of death except as a penalty for disobedience. Thus there was never a natural cause of death.....we are designed to live forever....right here with our family members.

How do you feel about the fact that you or your loved ones die some day? Feel sad? Indifference? Happy?

It is not natural to want to die or to lose those we love to death...especially an untimely death.
So grief is natural.....because death is unnatural. Having a reason for death and the hope of a restoration of life, makes death tolerable for the time being. It is a temporary state and we have Jesus' promise that the dead will live again.....it will be nice to see all the happy reunions in the new world to come.

That is how I see things....

You do understand that women with that "gift" were put to death in Israel? (Deuteronomy 18:9-12) Because, these are not spirits of the dead, but demonic spirits impersonating them. These demons have been around humans since the beginning and know all there is to know about everyone. They are con artists IMO who are trying to perpetuate the first lie that satan told in Eden ("you surely will not die").

Your partner may not even be aware that these spirits are having a lend of her. :(

I agree with everything you said except that I believe that the messages that are coming through are coming from souls (spirits) who have passed on to the spiritual world and I believe that the soul is not just energy, it is the person that was/is you. By contrast, the physical body is just a temporary vehicle used by the soul to carry it around and allow the soul to express itself while we are alive on earth.

I believe what the Baha'i Faith teaches about the soul living on after death. There are so many passages but below is one of my favorite passage on that subject:

“Thou hast asked Me concerning the nature of the soul. Know, verily, that the soul is a sign of God, a heavenly gem whose reality the most learned of men hath failed to grasp, and whose mystery no mind, however acute, can ever hope to unravel. It is the first among all created things to declare the excellence of its Creator, the first to recognize His glory, to cleave to His truth, and to bow down in adoration before Him. If it be faithful to God, it will reflect His light, and will, eventually, return unto Him. If it fail, however, in its allegiance to its Creator, it will become a victim to self and passion, and will, in the end, sink in their depths.”
Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, pp. 158-159

In keeping with what Baha'u'llah wrote, I believe that the soul takes on a new form when it crosses over to the spiritual world.

“The world beyond is as different from this world as this world is different from that of the child while still in the womb of its mother. When the soul attaineth the Presence of God, it will assume the form that best befitteth its immortality and is worthy of its celestial habitation.” Gleanings, p. 157

Abdu'l-Baha explains that it is a spiritual form, not a physical one:

“The answer to the third question is this, that in the other world the human reality doth not assume a physical form, rather doth it take on a heavenly form, made up of elements of that heavenly realm.” Selections From the Writings of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, p. 194

I like this excerpt from Swedenborg, a Christian who explains what happens when we die. As he says, death of a man is merely his passing from one world into another.

421. When the body is no longer able to perform the bodily functions in the natural world that correspond to the spirit’s thoughts and affections, which the spirit has from the spiritual world, man is said to die. This takes place when the respiration of the lungs and the beatings of the heart cease. But the man does not die; he is merely separated from the bodily part that was of use to him in the world, while the man himself continues to live. It is said that the man himself continues to live since man is not a man because of his body but because of his spirit, for it is the spirit that thinks in man, and thought with affection is what constitutes man. Evidently, then, the death of man is merely his passing from one world into another. And this is why in the Word in its internal sense “death” signifies resurrection and continuation of life. Heaven and Hell, p. 351
How do you feel about the fact that you or your loved ones die some day? Feel sad? Indifference? Happy?
I feel very sad at the thought of losing a loved one; in fact I dread it. I know what Baha'u'llah wrote....

O SON OF THE SUPREME! I have made death a messenger of joy to thee. Wherefore dost thou grieve? I made the light to shed on thee its splendor. Why dost thou veil thyself therefrom?
- Hidden Words of Baha'u'llah

..... but it does not help much at all. :( To be honest, I very much dislike it when someone in the Baha'i community dies and they send out an e-mail saying that person just winged his way to the Abha Kingdom, as if he just left for a vacation to Europe or something.

But what is the most difficult for me is the loss of one of my cats. I do not believe what Abdu'l-Baha said that the animal spirit will be extinguished, because that goes against science, which says that matter can never be extinguished, but rather it just changes form, but since I have no confirmation as to where the animal spirit goes, it is a torment to my soul. If only I knew, it would change my entire life.

But in spite of my dreading the loss of loved ones, particularly my husband and my cats, I do not fear my own death. I have some anxiety about the spiritual world because it is a compete unknown, but I have complete faith that it will be what Baha'u'llah promises:

“O My servants! Sorrow not if, in these days and on this earthly plane, things contrary to your wishes have been ordained and manifested by God, for days of blissful joy, of heavenly delight, are assuredly in store for you. Worlds, holy and spiritually glorious, will be unveiled to your eyes. You are destined by Him, in this world and hereafter, to partake of their benefits, to share in their joys, and to obtain a portion of their sustaining grace. To each and every one of them you will, no doubt, attain.”
Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, p. 329

I consider this as being life after death.

We were quite dead before our birth.

I suspect it will go the same way again.

Jump in the coffin, jump out of the coffin.

I chose other in my poll reply because my understanding is that there are more option that can happen.

1: we die then get reincarnated in to life in physical world again, and it could be a life as human, animal, insect, plant.
2: we realize enlightenment before we die so when we leave physical world we go to one of the heavens at our enlightenment level.
3: if we have a lot of karma we go down to realms lower then our physical realm. Also called Hell, but it is not eternal. We can get out.
4: if we have accumulated so much karma during our time as a living being that we can not continue, we are eliminated from life. Then nothing will happen after this life.

Death is a part of life. So there will be sadness the day the person dies, then it go over to missing the person. I lost both my parents to death, and had to leave my brother so I have felt it.

I will not pull out a tiny section of the human zhuan Falun teaching, because it is not showing the teaching in the right way.no word is lesser then others in the teaching. All of it is important :)
