Hey everyone. Do you, as an Atheist, believe in Strong Atheism or Weak Atheism. For the purposes of this thread Strong Atheism is the denial of the existence of any and all deities while Weak Atheism is a lack of belief in any and all deities. So, which are you? Please vote in the poll.

I don't believe in atheism at all. There's simply not enough scientific evidence to even prove that it exists.

I don't think denial is the correct word as it imposes that I am denying something proven as fact. Nor am I lacking. Your may be confused on the difference between Atheism and Agnosticism. There are also different types of atheism however it can not be lumped into being defined as weak or strong.

Atheism is not something I believe in. It is just something that I happen to manifest.

I wouldn't even know that I am an atheist if I did not happen to live in a society that has and values the concept of god. Disbelief comes very naturally to me, is pretty much part of what I am.

I'm a strong atheist. I couldn't bring myself to have doubts about the existence of deities if I wanted to.

I don't really classify myself as a strong or weak atheist. I'm just an atheist; adding adjectives into the mix just seems illogical to me, and complicates things that aren't that complicated.

Weak atheist.
And atheism is so broad that some definition of your belief system within that umbrella can be useful. Strong/weak isn't the only way to do that, and I wouldn't exactly define them as the OP has, but I think it makes sense.

Weak atheist here because my position is speculative.
There's no evidence for or against gods.

I am strong in my lack of faith, but weak because I am wilin to consider other truths. Am I still listed as a theist?

Both (other). Strong atheism describes me in that I know very firmly what it is that I do not believe; and although I lack for no beliefs--whatsoever--weak atheism is adequate to describe my essential agnosticism (about the image of "God" not being god).

I'd consider myself a weak atheist. I don't "believe" in atheism, though. I simply don't hold any belief in a god or gods. Just based on my understanding of the world around me and my own life experiences, I don't see the evidence for it. I'm also an ex-theist (former Christian/Catholic), so I tend to see my non-belief through that lens.

Neither of your categories captures my position. I don't merely lack a belief in deities-- I very much believe that none exist. However, I don't assert that they don't exist; I don't claim knowledge of their non-existence.

Some people consider me a "strong atheist" due to my positive belief. Some consider me a "weak atheist" due to my lack of knowledge.

Personally, I'm more of a fan of the terms "agnostic atheist" and "gnostic atheist", as they are far more descriptive and concrete. I'd be an agnostic atheist.

I disagree with the terms. There is agnostic and gnostic atheism. "weak" atheism makes it sound like you are not strong in your conviction or have a "weak" position. And then "strong" atheism means gnostic atheism which can be turned around to sound just as silly as gnostic theism

"Gnostic" atheism makes it sound like you know something.

Gnostic Atheism is someone who believes for a fact or "knows" that there is no god. The overwhelming vast majority of disbelievers are people who "doubt" the existance of god. So the term fits perfectly.

I guess I am a weak Agnostic. Its so hard to say exactly what I am. I have so many conflicting feelings about the existence of god(s). Hell I could be a jewish-buddhist-atheist. In the words of Willy Wonka himself...

I think there was a social culture push recently to strengthen the Athiest faith as a whole.

So, yeah, Agnostics were bunched together as technical Athiests in the wiki, so...

There are only Athiests, and Anti-Theists. Only my opinion.

Hard and Soft Atheism, without that distinction, is without merit.

There are plenty of people with weaks "faiths" in spiritual pursuits, which are non-monotheistic, or God worshipping, which classify themselves as Athiests.
