Perhaps, but only mentally. Maybe they could project themselves into a dream or something and mess with your head. I could see a shaman or "witch doctor" being able to do that.

Yes - basically anyone who uses any form of written or recorded communication has transcribed words beyond their bodies in ways that can be hurtful and harmful to others. The words can even be from someone who has been dead for centuries and has no body.
