It gets on my nerves as well in the main. Man, why don't they ban this junk fest, and just have a Saturnalia, where we can all get laid.

I love it. This is my favorite time of year (especially when there are little kids around).

I love Christmas. Christmas morning, watching our kids open their presents. The look of sheer joy on their faces.... Priceless.. :Reindeer:

I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas. I love what it is, hate what it has become.

I like Christmas too, it's my favorite holiday, but I think most people have lost its true meaning...

It would be better if it you didn't have to give stuff, I like the getting. But now days advertisment has became a science back by years of schooling which forces us to give, and not cheap things.

It's not uncommon now for a young boy to almost expect the coolest newest $500 gift. Like a xbox 360 "which by the way is on my list if anyone feels generous":D

LOL! the funniest thing happend today, i work in a supermarket, and i was at work today, and i was working on the tills, and there was a massive que most the day, but at one point, it was stupidly busy throughout the the shop, and one man as he got nearer the tills dropped his basket, with wine bottles smashing, items rolling etc. now, he was obviously very peeved off, and he said the funniest this - he said "they should f***ing kill the guy who started christmas!"

:biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

i was in stitches for ages! i really was, but thinking about it, yes christmas does get on my nerves, but i love the centre of christmas, regardles of what society has turned it into

I don't care much for Christmas. The fact is pretty much expected of you to give and recieve just irratates me. And then there are some people who will condemn your employer for making you work that day. My question to them is, if you think Christmas is so special no one should be working, then why did you just pump a full tank of gas?

I enjoy Christmas, but there are other holidays I enjoy more. Of course, I don't have any kids, and I think Christmas is largely a holiday centered on kids, and giving them booty.

It irritates me half the time. This rabid consumerism is obnoxious at best, and selfish idiocy at worst.

Is the obnoxious consumerism justified by the delight kids take in the holiday?

This is the first Christmas in memory that I did not put up lights. My hands just couldn't do it. :( The tree is beautiful with the prezzies under it. My kids both love it and it is the only night of the year that they go to bed early... they are 21 and 16. :D

I can understand doing it for the kids. But I don't think giving them something as a treat once a year should translate into spending literally hundreds or even thousands because it's Christmas and your kid just has to have something. Maybe I'm just jaded because every holiday spent with my family would involve getting presents in the morning, followed by a good screaming session with everyone crying at some point no less than three times later in the day.

Oh Jensa, that was so very sad for me to read.:( I'm sure that you would not make a child's Christmas to be anything but very happy. Our love is the best gift we can give no matter if it happens to be Christmas or not.

My love will be with the child within you tomorrow Jensa. Please accept my gift when you awaken in the morning :) and may we try to forget the past and forgive those who have hurt us.

Oh no! Your family are royalists? :(

Just tell them you're a Roundhead or a Republican!

If that doesn't work. . . Tell you think the Queens a tart. You might get grounded for a few weeks, but it's better than dieing of boredom!
