NO it does not, after all Buddhist are religious atheist. BUT you claim everyone is religious and that is false.

Not all Buddhist are atheist. Many believe in gods but gods are not a part of some forms of Buddhism. Those that are, those gods are from the original religion of the country and it mixed with the new one. For exampe, in japanese Buddhism, Ten Tai you will find the Sun goddess and God in their faith from Shinto. While Hinduism has influene in Buddhism in India.

Not all Buddhist are atheist. Buddhism is just not a god-focused faith.

No single thing motivates me to stay alive, it is a plethora of things, if you stay alive for only one reason I am scared for your life.

No, there are several things important to me but none of them are supremely important.

Are those plethera of things important to you? If not, what is important to you in this life?

Classical Buddhism? Traditional Buddhists, mostly Mahayana, do have some beliefs in gods. Theravada not so much as far as I know. I cant speak too well on the cultural mix.

Buddha himself stated that he did not know of a god. So the classical (AKA original) Buddhist would have not had deities.

The Buddha acknowledge the deities believed in his country. He dismissed them and ascetic practices (and those youd see in Hinduism) and focused on reality itself. He felt everything comes from the mind. He speaks of deities from an cultural stance given the influence. His teachings arent god-focused.

To spread and embody the eight virtues in my signature, enjoy my life, learn as much as I can, and fight for minority rights among other things.

There. You have one trait of the definition of religion. How do you practice those things in your signature? Do you do charity? Talk to people? Take care of yourself? and so forth?

You dont have to answer it all. I just want you to get my point.

Sounds like what an atheist does XD

Which trait do you claim I have?

I'd say most humans yearn for peace...peace within one's self, one's life, with others. When I was an atheist, it's not that I lacked a sense of peace in my life, but *something* seemed to be missing. I couldn't ever put my finger on it really, and so I searched for meaning in other faiths and belief systems. Coming back to Christianity, I've had a sense of peace over these past few months that had been missing. To me, you have found the 'right' path for want of a better word, if you are at peace in your life. If you are truly content with who you are, and how you are living...then you have found a path that works for you.

So, do you find peace in your beliefs? Atheists are always welcome to answer, for even though you may not hold spiritual or religious beliefs, you believe something. Look forward to your responses. :)

For me, i just don't know how would my life had been without the refuge that my religion provides (Any grammar guru out here to confirm the grammatical correctness of this sentence ☺)

Let my point to the followin point:

In Shia Islam we have the concept of the living imam whom God have granted the right of intercession..So even if you feel that because of your sins you don't deserve to be answered by God, with the intercession of the prophet and his household your prayer will sure be answered..

I have never been abandoned

He believed deities existed. He disregard them to focus on reality of suffering. He just didnt do like the majority, attribute suffering to gods and goddesses and did harsh practices like purging themselves for their gods. I guess you can say he was atheist-minded.

Thats confusing. How do you show kindness, patience, bravery, and selflessnss? A lot of these are action words (not saying verbs). You cant be kind just standing still. You do things for yourself and/or others to show kindness.

You do nothing?

No god, no brahma may be called the maker of this wheel of life, empty phenomena roll on, dependent on conditions all. -Siddhartha

Yes but this does not make me religious by any sense of the word.

So you are saying all prayers to "God" made by Muslims are answered?

Its in the suttas itself and the Lotus Sutra Im reading. I go to another forum and talk with other Buddhist and we chit chat about some of the interesting things in The Buddha's home town. Its interesting.

If the definition you gave me is correct and to have a religion is to have at least ONE of those traits as you said, I think you qualify.

Its not bad thing. We are discussing religion not organized religion. Those two always get mixed up.
