Do you find peace in your beliefs?

When I think of others not looking for peace (or satisfaction or full knowledge or relaxation or oneness or wholeness od to be happy or to be sad or to want to be depressed as a good thing or to feel good saving the world or to live ones morals of kindness to charity) seem to be standing still.

Looking for peace does not have to be religious. People can look for peace (or other name prefered) by petting their cat or playing their second year of bowling.

Why do some of you feel in this context not everyone looks for peace?

Even our bodies "look for peace". They self heal and find ways to stay healthy natually. Taking care of yourself can bring productiveness just as taking care of youe child.

What is wrong with having peace?

As a former Christian, I felt a sense of peace because I was blindly trusting a savior figure to keep me from various evils .. as a child might feel peace under the protection of its parents.

After deeply examining the core texts of Christianity, I no longer possessed that peace, because a shell remained where I once found a savior. There no longer was a substantial protector in the idea I formerly trusted ... as a child might feel if it suddenly lost both parents, finding itself alone in the world.

Embracing Buddhism and its tenets, I have regained a sense of self-confidence in practicing and testing its truths for myself. I've laid a far more solid foundation for peace through such practices which I have tested and known directly for myself ... as opposed to my former "foundation" of sand which was based on blind faith.

Peace is a state not a journey as defined by modern english which is what is used on this forum.

Ask people how they define it. For me, it is a journey. I find that "state" by living in peace with myself and I try to with others. I try not to find this "state" in the future. I hate living on promises.

Peace is a state of mind, yes. I find that state of mind by joruney.

Thats why that is peace for me. Everyone lives their peace differently even if we cant see it from the outside.

Sorry I cannot understand you, because I cannot assume any word you say uses its actual definition.

Peace: freedom from disturbance; quiet and tranquility.

Not seeking freedom from disturbance.
That is not what the thread is about, actually. Peace meaning...despite all the external chaos around us and/or in our lives, we remain calm so we can stay focused on change. On helping to change the world. Peace isn't about escaping or running from challenges, it's about stayed centered during those challenges.

Sure, I can find peace in my Hinduism, no question. But I am a different sort. I just want to avoid boredom more than peace. Sometimes I like un-peace, also. I like epic battles. I like adventure.

This is probably going to be considered "bad" by others in the forum, but I find the most peace in the realization and, what I feel is, "proof" that no one has it all figured out any better than I do.

Anything in particular?

It wouldn't relate to you. I've tried to explain how I've found G-d to people before and it always falls flat. My personal experiences are my own. I believe that if a person finds G-d, it will be on their own unique terms. I wish you good luck on your search.

="Deidre, post: 4620882, member: 55994"]I'd say most humans yearn for peace...peace within one's self, one's life, with others.

Namaste,

I think most Humans a naturally peaceful, but have not realized it yet, I mean we need to be peaceful for doing anything in life. People who lack basic peace are always talking about making peace, being peaceful ect. A wise man from India says that "one needs to be peaceful even to enjoy dinner," so peacefulness comes naturally and many people are practicing it without even knowing. If we focus on the natural peace within our Atman (self), which in Hinduism is considered as Sat-Chit-Annand (Annand being peaceful/Blissful) then there is no requirement for a external source of peace such as religions ect.

If we are at peace with our own nature and self, all external peace will be a consequence of this, people seek peace from outside but many Dharmic traditions have emphasis on internal peace or using our own ability to tap into the infinite source of bliss/happiness/peacefulness.

So, do you find peace in your beliefs?

I personally try not to have too many beliefs, not even what some wise men from India says, but i try to experience Ananad (peace) in my everyday life and i find that 90% of the time i am peaceful naturally the other 10% i have to remind myself that i am.

Glad to hear this. Vedas have all kinds of Gods and Goddesses. For war and peace, for nature and society. I would be interested to know what beliefs and rituals interest you. I invite you to the Hindu forum to discuss this.
yes, here's list of Major Vedic Deities

Indra (supreme god/ like AM of Avastan)
Agni (god of Fire)
Soma (Moon God)
Varuna (god of seas and cosmic law)
Mitra (god of people)
Ushas (Dawn god)
Vayu (god of Wind)

all of these are concepts of supreme god (Vedic) Indra.

Indra is the bravest because He is the Supreme God, all other gods "abide in Indra".
(Rig Veda 3.54.17)

he is often associated with almost careless courage. A brash and aggressive God, who was not afraid of anything.

thanks for Invitation and yes i will join you guys on Hindu Forum one day. (BTW tomorrow is my Birthday koi special pooja karni chahiye ?)
