Do you find peace in your beliefs?

There no longer was a substantial protector in the idea I formerly trusted ... as a child might feel if it suddenly lost both parents, finding itself alone in the world.
:) I passed through that stage. I can understand what your emotions must have been.

yes, here's list of Major Vedic Deities

Indra (supreme god/ like AM of Avastan)
Agni (god of Fire)
Soma (Moon God)
Varuna (god of seas and cosmic law)
Mitra (god of people)
Ushas (Dawn god)
Vayu (god of Wind)

all of these are concepts of supreme god (Vedic) Indra.

Indra is the bravest because He is the Supreme God, all other gods "abide in Indra".
(Rig Veda 3.54.17)

he is often associated with almost careless courage. A brash and aggressive God, who was not afraid of anything.

thanks for Invitation and yes i will join you guys on Hindu Forum one day. (BTW tomorrow is my Birthday koi special pooja karni chahiye ?)
Indra is not a Supreme God, though sure, he is the first among equals. He was one of the sons of God Mother, Aditi (How many? It is variously mentioned - 7 in the beginning, 8,10 and 12 at last). Varuna and Mitra (the name means 'friend) also are 'Adityas', sons of 'Aditi'. At one time Varuna was considered Supreme.

I'd say most humans yearn for peace...peace within one's self, one's life, with others. When I was an atheist, it's not that I lacked a sense of peace in my life, but *something* seemed to be missing. I couldn't ever put my finger on it really, and so I searched for meaning in other faiths and belief systems. Coming back to Christianity, I've had a sense of peace over these past few months that had been missing. To me, you have found the 'right' path for want of a better word, if you are at peace in your life. If you are truly content with who you are, and how you are living...then you have found a path that works for you.

So, do you find peace in your beliefs? Atheists are always welcome to answer, for even though you may not hold spiritual or religious beliefs, you believe something. Look forward to your responses. :)
I wouldn't say that atheism gives me peace, but coming to terms with the fact that I couldn't accept Christianity as true (like my ex wanted me to) certainly rid me of a significant amount of mental discomfort.

Ask people how they define it. For me, it is a journey. I find that "state" by living in peace with myself and I try to with others. I try not to find this "state" in the future. I hate living on promises.

Peace is a state of mind, yes. I find that state of mind by joruney.

Thats why that is peace for me. Everyone lives their peace differently even if we cant see it from the outside.
Good thing others don't take this approach on other issues. It would be awful if people tried to tackle world hunger by just eating food themselves.

"I want the world to be peaceful, so I'll be peaceful myself" is equivalent to "I don't want there to be hunger in the world, so I'll eat this food." Both are self-serving.
I want peace in the world "and" I want peace myself.
I dont want hunger in the world "and" Ill eat this food (because I am hungry too)

I am part of that peace we need in this word-which includes me.
I dont want hunger in the word and "they" are not the only ones hungry.

We find a balance between what we want for ourselves "and" what we can do for others.

I dont see how your post related to mine?

OR I am at peace, I would not do something which will disturb the peace of others (like eating/taking what belongs to others) - because, in the end, it is gong to disturb my peace. That is a step towards everyone's peace.

It wouldn't relate to you. I've tried to explain how I've found G-d to people before and it always falls flat. My personal experiences are my own. I believe that if a person finds G-d, it will be on their own unique terms. I wish you good luck on your search.

Question,
Do you believe that god punishes people who do not believe in him?

I wish to change my answer to sometimes I find peace from my worship of God. When I do, it is wonderful!

God does not punish people for not believing in Him. People punish themselves by not following the rules He has given for them to find true peace and prosperity.

but according to RV he is Supreme god. and yes Varuna was supreme one time, i am not sure why he reduced to minor deity in Vedic time. any idea why Indra became a supreme god during early vedic period ?

Because they started switching to agriculture so a weather based deity was deemed more important.

Question,

New topic, eh?

You didn't capitalize the word "god". That is how I spell the word when I'm referring to any god I don't believe in like zeus or jesus. The stories about those pagan gods tend to show that they get angry if you don't believe in them.

1) You didn't answer the question

2) I do not capitalize the word god in any instance, but I capitalize the names of specific gods as they are names.
