Do you have faith in Fate?

What does faith mean to you, and what does fate mean? Do you have faith in fate?

Not quite sure I know what you are asking. If fate is simply what happens to you and the rest of the universe, then I guess so. If it is some predetermined thing, then no.

In my day, fate was a "coming together" or "meaning to be" of sorts. Two people meant to be together, it was fate.

Oh, went right over my head. I was thinking to hard about it :D
Sometimes you meet two people who seem absolutely meant for each other. And then 10 years later they are quarreling over child custody in a divorce court.......so not sure it isn't just an illusion based on preconceived notions and/or our own biases.

And then you see others and wonder what in the H-E double_l they are doing together, yet they endure.

To me, fate means an at least semi-deterministic worldview.
What happens will happen or, at least, some things are meant to be.
A part of me believes the latter.
Faith means a trust in hope, or a belief that is not fully justified by evidence.
So...a partial faith in fate perhaps?

yeah....what you believe in will be standing over you in your last hour....
waiting for you to surrender your last breath.

and the lack of faith will cause you to follow your dust into the box....into the ground....
into eternal darkness

The kind of faith that I find worth valuing involves serene acceptance of uncertainty. Not "defeating" it, but accepting it.

When I speak of fate, the meaning of the word usually translates into "unavoidable consequences of existing circunstances". It is not something for one to have faith on.

So I guess I do not have faith in fate. Fate is just something that happens. It is perhaps worth avoiding, but not really suitable as a subject of faith.

Faith: Science has been successful till now. They will in time solve the 'singularity' problem also. Yes, I have faith.
Fate: Probability, Uncertainty theory, Chaos, Randomness. :)

To a person who firmly believes in free will, fate or destiny sound like a nonsense, or (using a slightly meaner language), they look like the desperate attempt to deprive people of their responsibilities in order not to make them feel guilty.

Gǣð ā Wyrd swā hīo sceal.
Goeth ay Wyrd so She shall.

Fate is unchanging determinism. Destiny is something we have total control over.

Wyrd is somewhere in the middle.

Imagine all things as a giant Web. All things are interconnected in this Web ever being woven. But though may strands are already woven, they can be cut or redirected. The proper techniques might even influence Weaver's ongoing craft without her noticing.

Faith means you have a strong belief in something like God. Fate means your life has already been foretold before you we're even created. I strongly believe in both. I believe you can't have one without the other. It was always my fate to become a believer in Christ when I did. It was my Fate to marry my wife. These things have been foretold in my life. The road has already been paved for me. I just got to walk the road that God has layed out before me. Thus I have Faith in the unseen. I hope this helps.

I think chaos will get in the way of your faith

I don't believe such things....
does my belief negate yours?

What you are saying is that there is no way one can choose to be Christian....they will be or will not be, no matter what they do. So why do Christians proselytize? Or is only some people's lives controlled by fate?

I am not real sure what you mean here?

I believe in predestiny. What will happen was meant to happen.
we all have 'truths'
are mine the same as yours?
and in the times ahead.....who will lead and who will follow?

are my truths greater than yours?

That's a good question I think.

To me faith is acting on beliefs we acknowledge as such, we have faith that when we get in a car, we will arrive safely at our destination, not proof.

If we do not arrive safely, then I believe that is fate, destiny, yes.

I believe this and acknowledge that belief as such- so then yes, I have faith in fate!

I don't know are yours the same as mine? Only you can answer that. I just know for me I believe in predestiny. That our story has already been written. God sees all and knows all

I believe God moves with us in a linear fashion.
no fun knowing what next will happen

predictability is not pre-destiny.

that you have an inclination....isn't concrete
