Do you mean 'morning' doves? I have lots of them, I love their song, I wonder if that's where the term lonesome dove came from. They move just the way pigeons do but smaller, always see them in pairs.

Very tasty... ;)

Really yes, we have a few, not many, around the village. A couple of pairs come (came) to our bird feeders.

I say "come (came)" because one was taken by a peregrine falcon a few months ago.

Its sad to see a pair and a single dove feeding. I hope he/she finds another mate soon

Spooky, just before I went to bed I was asked a question about doves, then when I wake up I see this question. Anyway here's a picture of the dove I was asked about last night that I took a couple of years ago during a particularly nasty drought. They're not common around my area but we had a few move in probably because of the drought. When we got some rain they moved on. It's a Wompoo Fruit Dove.

Wow, what a beautiful and colourful plumage. Would stand out like a sore thumb when the eagles or buzzards are about

Surprisingly very hard to spot in the foliage, the colours are great camouflage in rain forest.

Er, when you say you are from Newcastle, I presume you don't mean Newcastle-on-Tyne;).
