Never had it. It's not generally available in the UK (or Europe) although a couple of American owned supermarkets do import certain types* in small quantities.

* Omitting those with certain additives that are banned in Europe

Root beer is good. In the same genre are birch beer and sarsaparilla. Ginger ale is also quite nice. Natural flavored soda beverages have many fine qualities.

I’ve always liked ginger ale. Here in Korea, the term for the same kind of beverage is cider. Cider, of course, is something different in America.

I only like one root beer. After discovering a very, very good brand I've become a root beer snob.

I sure like root beer.

My wife use to hate it. Every time we would go out and have a soda, I would order root beer and she would order a Coca-cola.

But when we got to the table I would put the root beer in front of her and the Coke in front of me. She always fell for it! :D

Now, thanks to my efforts, she loves root beer too.

After all that, how do you feel about Coca-cola?

Root beer was my favorite soda when I was a kid. My grandfather used to put a scoop of vanilla ice cream in a big glass mug of root beer and call it a Black Cow. Good stuff.

This stuff is pretty good for anybody else who's avoiding sugar. It's sweetened with stevia:
