How many on this forum, are sufficiently happy with their lives ? How many of you have goals that you think are unreasonable ? Do you Love yourself ?

I'd like to elaborate. Do you love yourself unconditionally? Do you forgive yourself? Do you know you are perfect just the way you are? Do you accept that you are the maker of your reality?

Do I love myself? Yes, I have to, because-sometimes, nobody else does.

I'm sorry, this was part of what was going to be a poll; I realized it was half-baked, and gave up on it - I let the thread 'run' (if you pardon the pun).

You haven't really answered the question though; I do not love myself, because I see myself as being full of sin; there are things that I have done for which I will never forgive myself - the sins of sheer ignorance. I am not the maker of my reality, God is.

But that would not be the definition of a God who gave us free will.

Forgiveness of self is harder than anything else. You have to know that you have done the best you can under the circumstances.

Remember always, that almost all the great men of the bible were sinners. Abraham lied and said his wife was his sister and offered her up to wed someone else. Joseph suffered the sins of his brothers, and come to find out there was a purpose behind it. Joseph's brothers have no reason to not forgive themselves, because it was through their sins, that God work was done.

It is said that Jesus was without sin. But he was killed as a blasphemer. So, sin is not so much the action, but the feeling of separation that is caused by it.

I love myself today
Not like yesterday
I'm cool, I'm calm
I'm gonna be okay! Uh huh
I love myself today
Not like yesterday
Take another look at me now
'Cause it's your last look
Your last look forever

Interesting point about sin ES . The way I see it , I'm human , and as such I am far from perfect . Unconditional love ? The way our minds work , is anything we think unconditional , or uneffected by other thoughts ?

How can you love yourself? I am myself, i can only love what i see in others - and those others are the only ones who can love me.

Love starts with the self . If you can't love yourself , you can't love others . Love is a deep emotion , and has many definations . But it starts with acceptant .

For me, love is an emotion i reserve for others - i don't need to love myself because i feel no emotion towards myself. I am who i am, if i don't like something about myself then i change it, thus love or hate for myself is not an issue.

:) I would think that would maen that you already do love yourself Halcyon . Love isn't readu something that most have to put an effect into . Nor is it some that is " reserved ". It is . It is not selfcentered neither . The fact that you accept yourself shows that you do love yourself , to a degree at lest . I am assuming that you are not totally indifferent towards yourself ? That you do take care of yourself , treat yourself once in awhile ?

Yes...I know I'm not perfect, but I think I'm a very rational and loving being. I trust myself to make rational moral decisions, even though sometimes I don't have quite enough will-power to carry things out perfecly.

And I do love myself. I think of love as good-will. In this light, I do my best to love all concious beings in the universe. It's one of my faith's basic tenets :)

It seems really, really wierd to not feel any emotions for oneself. I live every single day with myself, I'm inseperable about it. My perceptions create my world...and really, everything I see in the world is viewed through the lens of "my self"...so of course I feel very strongly about who I am. And I think I've made "who I am" into a very good thing. I'm deeply satisfied with myself, my mission, and my place in the world. Heh heh.
