Do you spend money on music?

Singers and performers have had to go back to touring a lot because people can get free music off of youtube.
I did not want to get off youtube. But I promised myself to spend a little this year on my teen idols even if they aren't breathing. Mine are Duran Duran who is alive and still performing, Billy Idol who I am not sure about, and Prince who is dead.

I just ordered The Greatest Hits from Duran Duran which includes some of my favorites, like Ordinary World, Save A Prayer, and New Moon On Monday.

I have always advocated buying physical media as a way to ensure that we give to the artists we enjoy.

I spend a lot of money on music. From albums from artists I like, to concerts, and a few musical hardware pieces here and there.

There's very little new music that's attractive to me, but I do want to pay for the music because I know how hard musicians work and how few really make a living at it.

Outa here... bye-bye!
I spend my music money on Filk and Classical. Not Pop.
However I did buy the Leftfield 'rhythm an stealth' CD a while back.

Yes, much to my wife's annoyance, I spend a lot on music. CDs and live

Latest purchase arrived yesterday; Bodega - Broken Equipment

Yes, but not a lot. I haven't had the time to look for new music. So just a few things in the last year. I prefer to buy it from the artist's web site so they get most of the money. If that's not possible, I usually get it from Apple Itunes.

I used to, when cassettes were available 22 years ago. But not anymore. :=(

I usually buy individual songs or pieces as downloads - won't say where but the nasty place  - but will buy CDs where appropriate so as to rip to Mp3s and play where I like. This is the most convenient for me, given that such music will not likely be anything modern and Spotify has been the only streaming service I've used occasionally - not much now though.

You mean musicians have to actually get off their tush and go touring?

Sounds like that's what the rest of the world has to do for their money. You work for it.

I've more or less stopped buying recorded music now. But I do spend quite a lot on music via my membership of choirs and choral societies and by buying musical scores to sing from. This goes towards paying for the time of choir directors, accompanists and the orchestras and instrumental players we hire, and music publishers. So I do my bit for the music ecosystem that way.
