If you jab a screwdriver into an electronic appliance, you will likely damage or destroy it. IMO, Adam did something similar to himself by rebelling against his Creator. The Bible explains that "through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned." (Romans 5:12)
I believe all the maladies and deformities humans suffer are the result of the sinful condition we inherit at conception.

The problem with this is that you are setting up a false dichotomy. To ask "designed" or "random" suggests that those are opposites, and they are not opposites.

There is nothing at all random about the genome that makes humans -- it was selected for by natural pressures over eons. But that is also (unlike someone else mentioned above) not "designed." Designed always implies a designer. Yet, it is a fact that had anything about the environment(s) in which we evolved been different, we would be different. A change in climate, an earthquake, the development of a mountain, formation of a desert are not done by any agency -- they simply happen. And as they happen, they have an impact on how all organisms affected by them evolve.

Yes, I'm not sure. As a scientist, we're educated not to jump to conclusions that are not based on solid and objective evidence, and when it comes to what may have caused our universe/multiverse, such evidence is lacking.
