The republicans have the presidency and the senate. The House is yet to be decided and may take 2-3 weeks for the ballots to be counted. This is a critical outcome because if the democrats get the majority they could prevent Trump from doing many things, mostly with the budget. They could provide some guardrails to his actions until the midterm elections. If the republicans get the majority then there would be little in the way of MAGA putting project 2025 and Agenda 47 into action. Trump will largely have his way with everything, and immunity in his back pocket. They would have two years, and it's likely a complete abortion ban would be implemented. MAGA would have plenty of time to cut taxes on the wealthy, and grift the federal budget to benefit them while blowing up the budget.

What is your preference, and most importantly your reasons, and possible scenarios and consequences for your choice. Try to present an argument, not just your vote.

Honestly, I want the Republicans to have it all and to do all Donald Trump has said he wants to do. In my opinion it's the only way MAGA goes away. Will it cause the country and people problem, yes for sure but based on this election it's the only way people are going to learn. Sometimes you have to go backward to go forward.

I think your idea makes sense in the big picture, and for the long term solution of it all. If democrats get the majority they will only be blamed for everything bad that comes from the Trump administration. And the economy might be able to sustain some stability for two years until the midterms, and then perhaps get a democrat majority in both the senate and house. It will be ugly and painful, but probably the best case scenario to get rid of MAGA.

I sympathize with this notion, but people will refuse to see what they don't want to see. The cognitive dissonance would be fatal.

So Trump would be in effect an unintentional John Galt, eh.

If the Maga's do not break away from the main Republican party, then the only other option I see is another civil war which would be much more fatal. Giving them what they want, and people get inconvenienced but for the most part won't die at least not at the rate of a war.

I really hate to say it but at this point we may as well let the republicans just burn the whole country to the ground. It seems to be the only thing that will finally wake the American people up. I really don't think there is going to be any avoiding it. We have to see and feel the heartbreak and the suffering all this greed and selfishness and stupidity is causing and will continue to cause, first hand, and for our own selves, before it will become real to us. Apparently we need to be so put upon that we HAVE TO help each other just to survive, before we will become willing to unite.

I kinda get that. But still. I just hope there's a way to stop things like P2025. I don't want to see anyone get hurt.

Yeah. Maybe this is what it's going to take. America needs to learn the hard way to not trust demagoguery.

By the way - it is not what Canadians want - its what the Americans want! Keep that in mind!;)
How many here are from USA?

Millions of folks already said what they want - soon we will see what they said at the polls. Wait for it!;)

The repubs are going to have a trifecta because the dems dropped the ball in many places.
It is what it is.
