Does Facebook Get Babies Killed?

Emerging and growing research is ringing the alarm and reaching harrowing conclusions, that yes, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc. have been the catalyst for extremism and genocide.
I'll spare details, but in Myanmar the amount of misinformation and hate speech flaired up hatred among the majority Buddhists against an ethnic minority who is Muslim, and they killed a lot of people in gruesome ways, and children were not spared.
The algorithms used by those companies are designed to maximize user engagement and have them wasting increasingly more time on their platforms. This has resulted in content with moral outrage getting more coverage and attention than more moderate, reasonable and less angry vioces. This is leading people down rabit holes of extremism. We even saw ISIS exploit this.
So, to those in the world who are opposed to abortion because it kills babies, where is your outrage and objections to these platforms leading to attacks and deaths around the world (happened even in Germany where two guys tried to set a house of immigrants on fire as they slept, and America where a guy started shooting in a pizza restaurant).

Not everything is good that comes out of media, but I don't vilify platforms and call/imply for the end of them just because somehow the blame is put on media communications.

That behavior, vilification of media? That's the typical rallying cry and calling card for Communists, Marxists , fascists, and socialists.

And these aren't isolated incidents. The algorithms push content make to get people watching more, they exploit emotions of moral outrage, and incident after incident we find the common denomination is misinformation spread on Facebook.

No. There are credible news sources, amd the instances of the acts of heinous violence have all been fueled and flamed by misinformation spread on Facebook. And lots of people don't turn to broadcast or print sources for news. Lots of people turn to Facebook.

These aren't tyrants but regular people being manipulated by algorithms designed to draw them in and keep them engaged for more amd more time.
And it wasn't tyranny in Sri Lanka when they blocked. They were very hesitant to do so amd didn't want to as they were transitioning to a more democratic state. But something had to be because Facebook ignored their desperate pelas for help. They blocked it, the violence stopped stopped and eventually it was unblocked.
And these communications are extremists and often call explicitly for violence. And exploiting emotion as they do, these platforms have fueled deadly tribalism because they are designed to activate emotional thinking. Add in they consistently reward the loudest voices with the most emotional language (especially in regards to moral outrage), a culture that prides itself on free speech no matter what, and yeah, lives have been disrupted and a lot of people killed because Facebook fuels modern day witch hunts.
