In Genesis 2:7 it says man is a living soul. And in Job 14:22.Job says his soul is inside of him.

In Genesis 35:18 Rachel died and her soul departed.

In 1 Kings 17:20-22 Elijah prayed to God to let the widow's son's soul come back to him.

In Matthew 26:38 Jesus said my soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death.

Also in Matthew 10:28.Jesus says nobody can kill your soul.

Also in Matthew 22:37.It says loving God with your heart soul and mind are different.

And in 1 Thessalonians 5:23.It says we are made up of body soul and spirit.

In Hebrews 4:12.It says the soul and spirit can be divided.

In Revelation 6:9-11.John the apostle saw the souls of dead people. And he learned more people were going to die and join them.

In Revelation 8:3 it says were the altar is.

In Revelation 20:4 it says John saw the souls that had been beheaded.

In Ecclesiastes 12:7 it says when you die your spirit goes right to God.

In Job 34:14-15.God can take breath and spirit.

In Hebrews 4:12.It says soul and spirit can be divided at death. If you read this with all the other bible verses I have mentioned. It's clear that soul and spirit are not the same.

I think spirit is like your life force. But your soul is like your ghost inside your body.Like in Luke 23:46.

If you notice in Luke 23:46.Jesus says for God to receive his spirit(life force)And then he gave up the ghost(soul).

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
No. No soul.

Plus the Bible had no authoritative meaning for me, making Bible quotes pointless and completely useless save for maybe other Christians.

I would divide it this way.
The soul is the unconscious self were our emotions, feelings, desires arise from.
The spirit is the conscious self that believes itself to be the causal force behind our thoughts, actions, choices.

It does fit is some sense of the definition but not if you're going to define the soul as immaterial.

the 'soul' is the living person. Its a living animal. Its the physical part of us.

When we die, it dies.

The original-language terms (Heb., neʹphesh, Gr., psy·kheʹ) as used in the Scriptures show “soul” to be a person, an animal, or the life that a person or an animal enjoys. It can even refer to a person’s future life (after the promised future Resurrection), as in how the word is referenced at Matthew 10:28 & Exodus 18:4

" 1 Thessalonians 5:23 , Hebrews 4:12 , Revelation 6:9-11, Revelation 8:3 , Revelation 20:4 "

The above verses " 1 Thessalonians 5:23 , Hebrews 4:12 , Revelation 6:9-11, Revelation 8:3 , Revelation 20:4 " have not been colored in red in the following Red Letter Bibles:

Holy Bible King James Version (Red Letter Edition)
The Roman Catholic Holy Bible with the words of Jesus in red.
World Messianic Bible

and that means neither (Jesus) Yeshua- the Israelite Messiah, spoke them nor authored them nor wrote them and , therefore, these are not a reliable source for guidance in ethical, moral and or spiritual matters for one who loves Yeshua, it transpires. Right?

Hey Frank, hope you’re having a good day, my cousin.

The term “soul” in the Bible can mean a few different things, like the person himself / herself, or the life the person has, or even referring to the future person, after their resurrection.

https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1200004192

In the website you posted above it says this:

Soul—A Living Creature. As stated, man “came to be a living soul”; hence man was a soul, he did not have a soul as something immaterial, invisible, and intangible residing inside him.

This made me scratch my head.Because In Genesis 2:7 it says man BECAME a soul. But In Job 14:22.Job says his soul is INSIDE him.:)

In my post above in Genesis 2:7.It says man BECAME a soul. But in Job 14:22.Job says he has a soul INSIDE him.And that his soul can mourn.

By the way.I got this from the king james version of the bible. When referring to Genesis 2:7.And Job 14:22.:)

Science confirms the Bible in that we have a soul:

The Roots of Psychology

The word psychology was formed by combining the Greek psychē (meaning “breath, principle of life, life, soul,”) with –logia (which comes from the Greek logos, meaning “speech, word, reason”). An early use appears in Nicholas Culpeper’s mid-17th century translation of Simeon Partliz’s A New Method of Physick, in which it is stated that “Psychologie is the knowledg of the Soul.” Today, psychology is concerned with the science or study of the mind and behavior. Many branches of psychology are differentiated by the specific field to which they belong, such as animal psychology, child psychology, and sports psychology.

Since you're so interested in JW, this is the explanation on our website:

"The traditional rendering of the Hebrew word neʹphesh and the Greek word psy·kheʹ. In examining the way these terms are used in the Bible, it becomes evident that they basically refer to (1) people, (2) animals, or (3) the life that a person or an animal has. (Ge 1:20; 2:7; Nu 31:28; 1Pe 3:20; also ftns.) In contrast to the way that the term “soul” is used in many religious contexts, the Bible shows that both neʹphesh and psy·kheʹ, in connection with earthly creatures, refer to that which is material, tangible, visible, and mortal. In this translation, these original-language words have most often been rendered according to their meaning in each context, using such terms as “life,” “creature,” “person,” “one’s whole being,” or simply as a personal pronoun (for example, “I” for “my soul”). When referring to doing something with one’s whole soul, it means to do it with one’s whole being, wholeheartedly, or with one’s whole life. (De 6:5; Mt 22:37) In some contexts, these original-language words can be used to refer to the desire or appetite of a living creature. They can also refer to a dead person or a dead body.—Nu 6:6; Pr 23:2; Isa 56:11; Hag 2:13 "

I kind of think we each are a soul, and we are yet not a soul exclusively, yet a soul primarily. We are each also a physical body, but this is not what we are primarily. There is a physical body that would be any one of us, just as there is a soul that is one of us. So, we are both things that are each us.

Soapy

Son of his Father: The Heir and Prince
The meaning of ‘Soul’ is the same as ‘Person’.

The body of Adam and his Spirit were first created but Adam was not yet ‘A LIVING’ SOUL… a living Person….

After God put the SPIRIT of Adam into the BODY of Adam, Adam “BECAME A LIVING SOUL

When a human dies his SPIRITis not dead… it is DORMANT. Only his body decays back to dust.

Because the Spirit is still NOT DEAD the PERSON is also NOT DEAD….!!! (Note that ‘Dead’ is a human term relating to the inability of a living soul to interact with the none living soul… To God and Jesus, and angels, the person is simply dormant - like a seed, to a gardener, fallen to the ground… it awaits an awakening but appears to be non-living!)

Therefore, since the Spirit is not dead, the Soul is not dead.

But the Soul CAN BE DESTROYED… Destroyed means like the seed is crushed and is no longer possible to germinate - to grow - The person is eternally destroyed … there is not even a remembrance of him!!
