Some mystics describe what they experience as deity, while others do not. Christian mystics, for instance, typically describe their mystical experiences as experiences of deity, but Classical Taoists typically did not describe their mystical experiences as experiences of deity. So, can it be safely said that how a mystic describes his or her experience largely depends on what culture they come from and the language available to them? And, if that can be safely said, would it not also follow that an experience ascribed to deity does not actually confirm the existence of deity?
