Yes, holy Roman Empire... Which was an attempt at resurrecting the Roman Empire. The Roman empire, or the "Holy Roman empire? With the number of Catholics world wide and with the religion centered in the Vatican, I would say yes, the Holy Roman empire still exists though Thankfully not as powerful. ANND,Thankfully their not in the inquisition business anymore.

I've heard the claim that NATO, the European Union, and the Roman Catholic Church are the survival of the Roman Empire under a different form that is more acceptable in our modern world... Do you in any way agree with this?
True. Even Napoleon claimed to be a descendant of the Roman emperors.Several upstarts have tried to claim that they are the emperor of the Roman Empire. They have picked names that reveal it. 'Kaiser' and 'Tsar' are both claims to the Roman Imperial throne and are derived from 'Caesar', and other European kings have tried to name themselves Roman emperor. Its a running gag. Muslim kings do not do this, because they want to claim to be Caliph not a Roman. The Mongols have no interest in Rome, so they go with 'Khan'. Japanese want to be either Shogun or Heavenly Sovereign which is like a Pope-Emperor combination.

Patton himself is said to have been an incarnation of a Roman warrior.True. Even Napoleon claimed to be a descendant of the Roman emperors.
