Does the universe have consciousness?

One's awareness, cognition, is a product of the brain, and all of the neurons and ...etc.

We are only aware of what we are cognitive of, called learning.

Yes, of course the universe has consciousness. *WE* are that consciousness.

A more relevant question is whether there is any consciousness other than what exists on Earth (and maybe other planets).

Do I think that the universe as a whole is conscious? No. Too large for meaningful communication between parts of it.

This question may have been asked before, but

Does the universe have consciousness?
This sort of question comes up frequently, along with "does God like/want...whatever?"

It always seems to me that this should prompt another question, just about as soon as we ask -- and that question is "what would lead me to suppose so?"

It's a question I don't think gets asked enough.

If I was to answer your question, what leads me to believe the universe is conscious is how everything within it function, how synchronized the world is. If something changes in the universe there is often a reaction to the change. So if we take away God for a moment, the only conclusion I can come up with is that the universe itself has some form of life and consciousness, Can I be wrong? of course I can

IMO no, it does not have "consciousness".
But we reflect and contain everything within it, including our own consciousness.

Maybe one day, the Universe will become self aware. Although I do not know what that means.

How many directions are needed to get to Cosmic consciousness, not one thought out there ??

Maybe quantum entanglement allows for disparate communication over a vast space?

Quantum entanglement doesn't allow for faster than light communication. It is a common misconception that it does, but it doesn't. Unfortunately.

This question may have been asked before, but

Does the universe have consciousness?

1. What does that mean?

2. As in the physical universe is aware of itself?

I like the term "life" rather than consciousness. Something that gives the moving universe vitality (for some love, etc). Spirit or energy that animated living creatures.

I don't see life as conscious and aware of us. It's not a source/creator (i.e. creator of life). It a constant movement.

3. What do you believe the universe and consciousness is in context to the question?

1: You answered this your self :) Is the universe aware of its own existence ?
3: I do believe the universe is a part of God, so yes I do believe it is aware of its own existence, meaning it can do certain things with a purpose. (not that I understand fully how it is possible)

Is human consciousness the only kind of consciousness ? Is 'Mother Nature ' a real phenomenon or is it a myth or just words? It is said that after the World Wars there were more males born than females. Does Mother Nature have a different kind of consciousness than humans? Perhaps the universe can be conscious without a brain. Mother Nature has no brain . Just a thought....

Although the cosmic web is similar in appearance to a neural net I would say not. The distances involved are bar to great for thought (including consciousness) to travel

View attachment 56005

One image is a fragment of neutral net showing a distance of micrometers, the other an artists impression if a fragment of cosmic web representing a distance of hundreds of thousands of lightyears

Spooky action at a distance

Self evident. Conscious self exists in the universe, not apart from it. Lower levels are not necessarily aware of higher levels of consciousness. Case in point, the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system. One doesn't necessarily have to know what the other is doing
