If you were considering inviting someone to your wedding then you'd assume that there are other more redeeming features that negate the fact he's a dogmatic bore.Sunstone said:Would you invite someone to your wedding who you knew (if invited) would spend considerable effort lecturing your guests on his views of religion or politics? Or would you rather arrange for his invitation to "accidently" have printed on it the wrong date for the wedding?
I don't think I could ever be so 'calculating' as to accidentally send the invite with the wrong date; I think I would rather front the person out and politely as him/her not to get involved with talking about his views..........Sunstone said:Would you invite someone to your wedding who you knew (if invited) would spend considerable effort lecturing your guests on his views of religion or politics? :biglaugh: You really see me like this Sunstone?Sunstone said:Can a person be dogmatic about religion or politics without being an insufferable bore? If so, how?
Of course not, Victor! I was recently buttonholed by a person who insisted on telling me in great detail his opinions. It was a very one sided "conversation" since he wouldn't let me get in a word edgewise. Although I agreed with most of his points on politics and religion, I found myself getting delirious with the need to go to sleep. That's what prompted the thread. Not my memories of your excellent posts!Victor said::biglaugh: You really see me like this Sunstone?

Darkdale said:Yes, but chances are I would end up mocking them, their religion and their politics... you know, let them know whose wedding it was.
Quite, but you don't have to achieve that by mocking them...............let them know whose wedding it was
Kinda like the guy that does the red eye commercial?Sunstone said:Of course not, Victor! I was recently buttonholed by a person who insisted on telling me in great detail his opinions. Nope, Dogma and Boredom go hand in hand, like Sonny and Cher, Cheech and Chong, Sigfried and Roy, and for some people on these forums, Cranium and Rectum....Sunstone said:Can a person be dogmatic about religion or politics without being an insufferable bore? If so, how?
