Dreams About The Future

Well, I have a very unusual phenomenon that happens to me at times, I can't control it, I can't bring it about, and I don't always know it until it is too late. I have dreams about the future, sometimes. I was wondering if anyone else has this?

Sometimes, I have dreamt things, and then they happened. Not ALWAYS exactly as in the dream, but so much the same that it is frightening. It all started when I was 4 and dreamed my grandmother's death. I could see her house perfectly even though I'd never been to see her since she moved when I was a baby, she lived far away, and I'd never even seen a picture of her house, but going there several years later, it was the same! In my dream she died from choking, in real life they said she died from asphyxiation.

Next, I dreamed about a person I'd never met. The next day, I met her. When I met her, she said the same thing in greeting that she said in my dream. "You're weird." Rather an unusual greeting, even when adressed to someone like me.

There have been several other, little things. I once dreamed my little sister was sitting at the dining table trying to eat makeup, the next day, it happened, but what disturbed me the most was the exact look on her face, what I said to her without even thinking, the whole scene, was exact.

I actually attended Thurston High School a few years before Kip Kinkle shot the school up, killing two students. Once, when I was a student there, I dreamed about him, though I'd never met or heard of him before, nobody had really, and in fact he didn't even attend school there yet. But I didn't dream the actual incident, instead I saw him in what I thought was a music room, because the boy he was talking to was holding a musical instrument, and he was talking to this boy and showing him a gun. I just thought he was going to kill himself. I think the other boy in the dream thought that too. Oddly, in my dream I walked down to the room myself, but it was in the wrong place for a music room, it was in the place the cafeteria was in real life, the place where the shootings would take place. It never made any sense to me until after it all happened. So I don't know what the purpose of such dreams are...

I have dreamed of the births of three children. I dreamed my best friend was pregnant and had a son. A few days later, she told me she was pregnant, and when the baby came out, it was a boy! My other friend had already told me she was pregnant, and I dreamed I saw her in the hospital with her husband holding a baby boy in a rocking chair, and it happened EXACTLY like in my dream, even down to the clothes they were all wearing and the position of the rocking chair in the room!

Then I dreamed about my daughter, a little blonde haired girl whose facial features I could see so clearly, I dreamed I as giving her a bath and she looked up at me with a certain expression on her face. I didn't even know I was pregnant with a girl back then when I dreamed this, and now she is the exact age as she was in the dream, and looks exactly the same.

These are just a few of the incidents. Some of my dreams are very frightening and I'm afraid they will happen. And once, I dreamed that Anna's sister told me she was going to live a couple more years, and she died only one year later. So I don't always know which dreams I trust.

Does anybody else ever dream the future? If so, can you tell which dreams are going to happen and which aren't? Can you control it at all?

I do, though I don't always know it until after the event has happened. I'll reflect right afterward and say "Oh, yeah... I dreamed that."

I'm working on lucid dreaming and journeying, though.

Same. One day, I *think* I dreamed that someone in my English class was saying something. Then, one day, he says the exact same things, in the exact same chair, in the exact same everywhere! I was kind of muttering what he was saying under my breath....imagine if I spoke out loud.........I'd freak him out. ;)

Wow, rearing arabian, that reminds me of another one! I dreamed I was in a classroom with a bunch of highschool kids and they were looking up at a certain song written on an overhead board and singing. Well I thought, that would never happen. I was in college. But then I went to church with a friend of mine, and she taught sunday school for the high schoolers, and she asked me to join, guess what song they were singing!

Deck the Halls? :p

One time I *think* (I'm not sure if they are dreams! Think they are........) I saw my neighbour's cat following me near two villas that were being built. Now, one day I was walking there, and I said to myself that if I turned around, he would be standing in the exact same way I saw him in my *dream*. And he was. Think that's just about the only time I've applied it before seeing it. :p Usually, I just forget it till I see it.

Is it deju vu, or did we just discuss this?
No , it isn't always deju vu NetDoc . I have met people in dreams , and some I haven't actually met . For excample , I once dreamt about a friend's girlfriend who I had never met , nor ever seen a picture of . I really knew very little about her , perhaps her hair colour ??? It was quite awhile ago , so can't say for sure just how much I knew before the dream . But after the dream I was able to describe her in detail to my friend . He was floored .

Now that dream had to do with them breaking up . Something one don't really have to be a mind reader to figure out . :) But the fact that I could decribe her in that much detail isn't deju vu .

I had a dream that someone very close to me was going to be hurt for the past several weeks. It ended up being me so I should not trust dreams anymore.

No-one is closer to you than you are.
