Though cruel that just may work. A sharp spike in the murder rate and who knows how many innocent bystanders (but who really cares, most of them would probably be minorities and very few would be upstanding citizens) , but that could result in a drop in both drug users and drug suppliers. Trump's genius strikes again!

Since drugs are BIG business and government is often involved with BIG business, then what can one person do.

Considering the government has its hands in the drug dealing business--both legal markets and illegal black markets--I doubt Trump will do anything. The War on Drugs is an abject failure, but pushing crack cocaine in major cities is a great way to make tons of fast cash. If he does do anything, it will be pushing destructive measures that only serve to widen the budget of those shady cousins of Uncle Sam. Opiates are the new crack and coke, and they won't be going away anytime soon.

I am totally not a Trump fan. When I heard him talk on "stop drugs", was the 1 time I really believed him. Stopping is not easily done, can't blame Trump for that.

Drug abuse is an addiction. Addiction is a result from being not happy, maybe even hating oneself. If you really love yourself and care to live long and healthy you take in only good stuff. Hating oneself comes from society around you when growing up. Can be millions of causes. So to have a president just solve it is impossible.

We could use the Vlad Tepesh example, they had a problem with aggressive panhandlers, petty thieves, and ne'er do wells so he invited all those "poor" folk to a grew feast complete with large quantities of alcohol. After the great feast and the participants were thoroughly inebriated his soldiers barred the doors an set it on fire, they didn't have much problems with it after that. Maybe such a thing would work for dopers?

Id like to think Immigration law could affect it but alot of drugs are made here. What about legalization that would help?

Hillary and Trump actually agree on these issues, sharing a cautious take-it-slow approach to legalizing marijuana and winding down the War on Drugs.

Q: A lot of talk about addiction on the campaign trail lately, especially up in New Hampshire. You used to think that legalization, taking the profit out, would solve that problem. What changed your mind?

TRUMP: Well, I did not think about it, I said it's something that should be studied and maybe should continue to be studied. But it's not something I'd be willing to do right now. I think it's something that I've always said maybe it has to be looked at because we do such a poor job of policing. We don't want to build walls. We don't want to do anything. And if you're not going to want to do the policing, you're going to have to start thinking about other alternatives. But it's not something that I would want to do.

In terms of marijuana and legalization, I think that should be a state issue, state-by-state. Marijuana is such a big thing. I think medical should. And then I really believe we should leave it up to the states. And of course you have Colorado. There's a question as to how it's all working out there, you know? That's not going exactly trouble-free.

The border is already enforced. Has been a long time, only getting stronger. A wall will not stop the cartels.

I'm sure we could hire a million border patrol agents to stand in a line along the border, 10 feet apart.

The world is just sick. Too many people wanting power, control others, excessive desires, greed etc. As long as this stays one can never solve problems. And also brainwashing humanity by (fake)news, TV, internet(trolls) etc. Just to fulfill more desires, make more money. The solution is simple, to change this not. Human has free will, but uses his willpower for egoistic motive more than for altruistic motive.

The border is so unenforced, they have signs warning the public away from the area. Enforcing the border would slow the traffic down, but yeah, it'll never stop it. The only way to stop it is to legalize it. It's nothing but Prohibition all over again with all the corruption that a black market causes.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
There's a notable lack of going after kingpins themselves.

Last one I think was when the Mexican and US feds went after and gunned down Pablo Escobar.
