Easter Question:What Is Your Favorite Jesus Movie?

There have been a lot of Jesus movies. What is your favorite and why?

I like Jesus of Nazareth the best. I wish their were more middle Eastern actors in it, but it was still well made. It showed mostly the teachings and life of Jesus rather than focusing on His miracles. I would have liked The Passion of The Christ much better if it wasn't so darned violent, as it was well made and was spoke in Jesus' language of Aramaic.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
My favorite movie about Jesus is probably an Italian film called "A Child Called Jesus." It is beautifully done and focuses on the little known years between 2 and 12 in the life of Jesus. It pulls in a lot of sources outside the bible and is very interesting.

I'd like to respectfully ask, in the interest of learning, if any Christians enjoy "Jesus Christ Superstar."

I absolutely LOVE Jesus Christ Superstar! Great music, clever plot (mixing past and present), good acting - and SOOOOOOO iconic of that era (late sixties, early seventies).

Kathryn, the movie " A Child called Jesus ", is it based on any ancient writings? I've always been curious about that tme of His life.I liked Mel Gibson's The Passion I also agree that it is violent and graphic but maybe that's the shock factor some people need to get them thinking about Christ. A non-Christian friend of mine points to the day she saw that movie as the day she really began to understand who He was

Yes, the movie "A Child Called Jesus" is based on the many ancient writings about His early childhood. I have a hunch you would really like it. It was a very moving and beautifully produced film.

I love it. I'm probably among about 1% of Mormons who have ever even seen it. But then, you know me.

I'm going to try to get a hold of that. It sounds like something I'd like.

Dang it, this is making me want to watch my old video of Jesus Christ Superstar. But I'd have to find my video player and hook it up...

Hey, I may do that anyway.

I'm kinda in the mood for some Herod hatin'.

Well, I just re-watched Jesus Christ Superstar. Wow, the two leads are amazing in that movie (Jesus and Judas). The movie itself is so interesting - very raw and unsophisticated but FAR OUT MAN.

I just watched a Jesus movie (can't remember the exact title) where the charcter of Jesus was played by the guy (can't remember his name either) who played Desmond on Lost. It's funny, but the last time I watched Lost (I finally lost interest and stopped), I commented to my husband that somebody should cast Desmond as Jesus. I thought he'd make the perfect Jesus, but didn't realize that somebody had already cast him in the role.
