Electoral College Drama 12-19-16

It seems there has been a little drama with the electors casting their votes today...

1. An elector in Maine opted to cast his vote for Bernie Sanders instead of Hillary Clinton. When asked why he did it, he said that Trump had the EC locked up and his little vote would not change the outcome, but he cast it the way that he did out of respect for those that voted for Bernie in the primary. Their voice was heard and recognized.

2. A Minnesota elector who supported Bernie Sanders, said that he could not vote for Hillary Clinton. He was replaced by an alternate. His protest against Hillary and replacement did not affect the tally.

That's it.

Are you surprised? I'm not. My theory is the media outlets drummed this up for views/numbers.

Speaking of media...

I will have to find the article, but Trump basically said that there would be a different seating arrangement with regard to the White House Press Corps. Those that bashed him might find themselves at the back of the room, if not across the street. CNN will definitely be on the chopping block.

Personally I think there needs to be some responsible journalism instead of this tabloid crap that mainstream media has become.

I agree about media needing to be responsible. However, if Trump dismisses any and all media just because they are critical of a choice he makes, that is dangerous.

BTW what ever happened to all those recounts that were all the rage at some point?

They were not that big of a rage. The media hyped it up more than what was actually going on.

Hillary Clinton was not the one that demanded the recount, even though she lost the election. The recount was because of Jill Stein, who made millions off the effort (the real reason she did it). A judge shut it down when some obscure law was brought up stating that Jill Stein did not have grounds for a recount since she was not in contention to begin with. After that, it fizzled into nothingness.

And then suddenly Russians hacking became the new fad.

Intersting. I don't really follow CNN. What did they do? What made their coverage of Trump worse?

CNN has long been a liberal, left wing supporting media agency. During the debates, CNN fed the Clinton campaign questions in advance so that Hillary's team could carefully craft her responses. They did this in both the primaries against Bernie and the presidential debates against Donald.

The moderators had a tendency to gang up on Trump and went easy on Clinton. No one really pushed issues that made her look bad, or if they were asked they were just skimmed over and moved on. There is a reason why CNN was nicknamed the "Clinton News Network" and some years ago the "Corrupt News Network."

CNN can take a seat at the back of the room as far as I am concerned.

Was that confirmed? I know it was a theory for awhile.

What are some of your go-to media outlets?

It was confirmed.

I actually don't watch the news or read the paper. As a CSI, I live the news every single day and don't care to see how bad the media butchers the story.

Most of my news time is when I am taking a dump in the morning. I use Google News & Weather app and it pulls articles from a variety of sources. I scan through and if something looks interesting, I'll read it.

State run media here we come! This is what dictators do.

Sometimes a dictatorship is exactly what a country needs so that it can move beyond the divisional BS that comes from a diverse society of cry babies and emotionally fragile softies.

Can we not have a dictator who is a corrupt sociopathic emotionally fragile crybaby? Re: Trump.

Actually let's just not have a dictator, as dictatorships just end in revolution, deposition, a lot of lives and money lost, just to return to some variant of a democratic or parliamentary system.

Well, if a dictatorship happens, you're definitely doing the right thing by brown nosing. Good way to preserve your life and status before the anti air mows you down in the firing range.

We all die. Not everyone truly lives. Work on the latter and don't worry about the "what if" game.

Who would be at the front of the room? RT? Fake News? Even Fox News hasn't been very friendly.

If I thought he was talking about responsible journalism I might even support the idea. But I think it's clear that is not the goal.
