All of you Empaths on this forum, do you ever sense someone elses physical pain? Do you get actual symptoms yourself ?

No, i just know exactly what they are feeling and in a lot of cases what they're thinking as well.

I ask, because I do feel their symptoms, sometimes. Whenever I go to see my Mother in law (no jokes please), who is epileptic, suffers from an enlarged heart, asthma, I can actually 'feel' her 'draining' me; when its time to go home, she seems perky, while I am like a limp rag.............

When my Mother was ill with Parkinson's I used to inviluntarily mimic her shaking.........

I've never actually felt someone else's pain, although when my Father was ill I always wished I could just take his pain away and make it my own, even if only for one day.

Nope I have never experienced another's physical pain. However, normally when people are in extreme pain, they are in considerable mental distress as well and I feel a lot of that.

I seem to feel emotional distress as well; for emotional distrees, I don't have to be near the person.........I can be very far away.

I have had very odd mood swings that are distinctly different from the normal mood swings I get and I have oftened wondered if they were a reaction to somebody I care about feeling an extreme emotion but I haven't really delved into it to find out. Mostly I have to be in the same room as another to feel as they feel but when that happens, I believe that I feel their emotions perfectly although it is sometimes more difficult to understand why.

My dog always knew if someone was in pain, unhappy or sick.
If they were in a chair he would sit on their feet and not move.
If he could get on their lap he woul lick them and go to sleep.
That was even visiting strangers.
I am sure it helped

Normally, I regard my empathy as something I'd rather not have except for this aspect of it, of feeling their physical pain. It usually happens when I'm very close or touching the person. I'll feel discomfort or pain where they have been injured or something similar. The reason this comes in handy is that, as a Reiki practitioner and a massage therapist, it lets me know what areas to work on and how to approach them.

Has everyone just always felt their empathic feelings or have you learned them or aquired them otherwise? Has anyone tried to make themselves more sensitive to others feelings in this way (i.e. increase the strength of their empathy)?

i get strong impressions off people, and it can be quite shocking when i've been relating to someone's state of peace to then be confronted by another's anger/frustration

with regards to physical pain - never had it (except my own physical pain ofcourse)

i remember one time when one of my pagan friends saw a glimpse of her past life, and she had been burnt with her children and some other people - i got my first empathic experience then, when i got overloaded (right word?) with the feelings of anger and hate for pagans that the crowd had - blind simple and unrelenting hate

ofcoure sinse then, i have had many other experiences, non of which have been as bad as this

thing is thoug, she remembers being burnt in york, and that is where i am going fo runiversity (hopefuly) - i am sure i will be shown places of significance in york when i go there

When we disected pigs at school (i never did because it's against my beliefs) when someone would cut on its neck, i would start to feel pain in mine. I would have to leave the classroom cause i felt perpetually horrible. (no, it wasnt the fermaldahide)

I tend to sense emotional distress, sometimes I cry when i sense too much of it.
