athiesm is dropping very quickly, statistics show it dropped from 20% to 16% worldwide. its kind of weird. most atheists have been converting to islam, satanism, christianity, or neopagan faiths aparently. i wonder what its gna be like in 10 years

Then again, far in the past it was probably 0% :bonk:
Lets hope atheist don't disappear. Not because I'm one, but because they keep the thoughts going. :curtsy:

I would like to see the source you took it from though. :) For my feeling, more people are becoming atheist. At least, in the evil Netherlands..:D

Does that statistic include new agers etc? Because I reckon a more accurate thing to say is that there's been a decline in materialism. I think it's a result of a backlash against the very fast progress of science and technology that's been happening for about a century, and the backlash is just starting. I'm not saying that non-materialists all hate science and technology, but I think that a lot of the change has been as a result of people who feel more uncomfortable with the rate of progress and see spiritualism in any sense as being a calming reassurance in the midst of all the frantic change.

It's getting now to where people are getting too smart to deny God Exists. But that's still diffrent from Serving him. Just becuase Atheisim Dropped doesn't mean christianity has risen. We still have work to do....Preach the word, be a model Christian, do the Work of the Lord that's about the best we can do. If they ignore us...their blood is on them.

i doubt it has dropped.

all statistics like this prove is that statistics are not a valid means of testing a faith.

i know loads of people in my area who filled in their census form as being christian, because thats the box they typically tick, not because the actually believe it

to trust such statisitcs is naive at the best....

I don't disagree, but it begs the question of which statistics do you believe and which will you not? I suppose it's like horoscopes...if it's something you like you agree with it and if not, then you don't.

in many threads i have refused to use or accept statistical evidence becuase, frankly, it is a pathetic form of evidence.

statistics are derived from samples, samples are selected - that statistics is true for that sample, yes, but to generalise it to the rest of the populations makes the statistic invalid and useless - i do not accept or use statistics.

besides, 86% of statistics are made up on the spot........

Statistics are very easily warped. I love math, but hate stats... to me, it's the math of lying. The biggest issue is the motives and biases of the people conducting the study. Who funded the survey? How are the questions phrased? How big of a sample was taken? How did they select their sample? Believing in a particular study should have more to do with these questions, than just supporting your own beliefs.

and lets face it, this is assuming people tell the truth on these things!

Oh, really? Well, my sources say it's closer to 74%.

Stats can be very useful, if done appropriately. However, even biased stats can be informative because it shows the competence and morality of a particular source when the methods are analyzed...
