Eternal Nothingness

Jimmy

King Phenomenon
If you believe all of existence, the infinite cosmos, has always been here, please explain to me, if you can, how this can be or why you think this way.

Eternal nothingness makes more sense than an eternal something. With an eternal nothingness there would be nothing to stop or start that eternity which is the exact requirements to fulfill such an existence.

To me the idea that something has always existed makes more sense because something currently exists, and the idea of something coming from nothing sounds absurd to me.

How is eternal nothingness possible when we see something already exists?

I like to call it eternal potential as there's always something as much as nothing.

If you believe all of existence, the infinite cosmos, has always been here, please explain to me, if you can, how this can be or why you think this way.
Two reasons, in prime:
  • For all practical intents and purposes - that is, when considered from the limited scope of human experience that requires existence of the universe - the universe has always been here. Put another way, because human experience cannot be present without the universe, the universe is in effect infinite and eternal with respect to the human experience. A similar pragmatic philosophy can be followed for a whole range of other phenomena that vastly eclipse the human lifespan and experience such that they might as well be perpetual and eternal.
  • Human sciences thus far strongly support the notion of the universe working in cycles. Matter and energy are not created or destroyed, they only change form. The universe is the great recycler; one thing breaks down to become part of something else. Understanding and accepting these cycles is foundational to many contemporary Pagan religions, including my own. Pagans and other indigenous religions tend to view time as cyclical rather than linear and the sciences support this in some ways.
