Do evil spirits or other evil entities exist in your religion or belief structure?

Do your religion or belief structure incorporate some sort of ritual or practice such as chalking the door? If so, what does that ritual or practice consist of and how does it work?

Be who ever you want
In Buddhism it is not talked a lot about evil spirit, But you can say Mara (evil one) is a representation of evil within our self. The temptation. But yes there are evil "demons" mentioned in Buddhism too.

how to protect one self can be chanting buddha`s name.

But it is not often thought in buddhist lectures as far as i know.

In my religion evil sprits and entities do exist: the practice to deal with them is always non-violently for self-preservation reasons.

I think evil spirits exists. But, i think how it all works is the evil spirit gets stronger the more we feed it. We feed it by fearing it and by fighting its temptations.

In rare cases an evil spirit is so strong that it takes "posession" of the person. This comes with spectacular menefestations. These are rare.

I knew 3 people who told me they saw demon posession.

One guy told me he saw a little girl chained up. She grabed his friend when he came close and she threw him accross the room.

Another guy (misionary) told me him and his crew went to this guys house. The guy was crawling on the cealing like a spider. The guy kept screeming in a monstrous voice "we are not comming out!"

Him and the crew tried to call on Jesus to cast it out, but it was not working.

The misionary told me he got his laptop out in order to type out every detail he was witnessing.

Then he said the room felt very oppressive mentally. Then he heard a voice say "delete that! My power is more then the power of evil!" He said after he deleted it, the oppression off his mind lifted.

After that, they left, they could not help the man.

The other guy told me he knew a pastor who went to this house. A child was talking in a monstrous voice, blaspheming God excessively. The pastor had a side kick with him. The pastor told the side kick "make sure your heart is right with God, because when this demon comes out, its gonna want to jump in somewhere else."

Interestingly, after he ordered the demon to come out, it did jump in his side kick. It picked him off the floor and pinned him to the wall.

These 2 testimonies i got direct from others. The third, was a second hand.

While I appreciate the anecdote, I'm left wondering if you read the OP or just read the title of the thread.

Yes in Christianity it does exist.

There is no ritual that can be employed, rather it is a lifestyle that will drive the evil entities away.

Each individual has the capability of harboring a bad spirit, thus bringing this spirit into the real world. When this happens, the person containing this bad spirit must repent of their sins that caused this spirit to get a foot hold in them, then continue to try and avoid the sin that caused this in the first place.

As I mentioned, this isn't a ritual, rather it is a lifestyle. The more you willfully sin, the more chances of an evil spirit coming into your life. The more you entertain that spirit and harbor it, the harder it will be to get rid of it later on. The longer you wait, the higher chances of it becoming a part of who you are, consequently, being almost inseparable to you.

The only way to get rid of it at this point, is to brake yourself on the rock of Jesus' teachings and become born again, which kills the bad spirit inside of you, and replaces it with God's Holy spirit.

Evil spirits, in bible traditions are connected to Satan/Devil, with Satan the serpent who lives in the tree of knowledge of good and evil. This tree is symbolic of law. Law teaches us good from evil; knowledge of good and evil. This knowledge is not something we are born with, but rather it is taught and conditioned, based on the nature of your culture. Law is not natural to the human brain, or else it would not need to be taught. The result is a repression of natural instinct, from which Satan and Evil Spirits appear; live in that tree.

For example, alcohol in moderation is evil and taboo in many Muslim Countries. However, alcohol in moderation is not taboo in most Christian and Atheist Countries. This law is not universal, like instinct, but conditioned based on your culture. The dark side of the law; taboo, causes a repression since nobody wants to be considered evil. This repression of the evil side imposed by the knowledge go of the law, can cause impulse and projection; i.e., evil spirits can appear. There is no uniform evil spirits in all cultures, but rather each culture has its own, due to its unique blend of rules and laws.

When the brain writes to memory an emotional tag is added as it is written. Our memory has both sensory content and feelings. Law is a unique form of memory in that it has two conflicting emotional tags. It has the fear connected to the dark side and the love/rest connected to the good side. The conflicting feelings are not healthy since it make one indecisive. For example, sexual taboos of the past came into conflict with instinct making the people of the 1950's, indecisive and repressed. This led to the compulsive of the sexual revolution in the 1960's.

The brain settles this induced artificial tension by writing the two sides of law into two separate memory locations, so we can be conscious of one side instead of both at the same time. This gives us a sense of control and direction. Law becomes like a coin that one thing, with two sides, however, we can only see one side at time.

Typically the dark side of law is repressed since most people like to see themselves as good and righteous. Even the rebel who break the law justifies this as good. The dark side, which may involve hundreds of law, by being repressed, can develop an autonomy; Satan, which adds dark impulses to self righteousness; kill in the name of the religion.

If you can see and control this, since you know killing is wrong, the dark side can appear in other ways; projected spirits. Spirits become outside forces that can be help one reduce the repression due to law; action or awareness of action. This may not always be the best advice if from dark side spirits.

Consider the Democrats and how they treat the wife of Donald Trump. They feel self righteous being mean. These impulses come from the repressed dark side of law, whose autonomy make this appear as the foundation for proper righteous behavior. It might be better for them to see a evil spirit, so they can make a distinction of this dark side. This will appear to be separate and conscious, instead of unconscious.

Are you indicating that the evil spirit comes from outside your body?

Not evil, just mundane, or 'not particularly useful for the soul's evolution'. For example a soul who just got out of an alcoholic body, and still feels the pull of it might try to temporarily inhabit (possess) another alcoholic to get the vicarious effects. But that would all be temporal.

Is there a practice or ritual in Hinduism that would prevent such a possession or inhabitation?

Not as such. There are monsters of craving, ignorance and fear. But they are not really supernatural, nor exactly entities or spirits.

Basically, they are spasms of emotional agony, to be gently dissolved into non-existence, or sublimated if at all possible.

It is an enormous joy to succeed at that.

Not really. Direct confrontation and/or sincere acceptance, in whatever combination is called for, tend to be the actual remedies.

You might call that exorcism. I sort of do.

I did read your whole post. I know you asked for chalking the door. I dont know anything about that. But, the anectdotes despite having nothing to do with the chalking part, did have something to do with evil spirits.

Sorry i dont have anything on the chalking part.

I'm going to tell you this just for reference, you can take it for what it's worth. I have stated before that my wife has a 'gift' of being able to communicate with those that have passed (it's not something she want's, but there's nothing she can do about it; it is what it is). It's hard for her to describe the entities but the closest I can come is to call them 'energies'. After watching her experience this phenomena over the years, I worry about 'dark energies' (my word) coming through. There has been at least one 'dark energy' trying to manifest through her, but it seems she is protected by the multitude of good energies that try to contact her. She seems especially protected by a few close relatives that have passed. I know you might be rolling your eyes, and, truthfully, if I had not experienced this first hand I would probably join you. I guess my point is that there are people out there that may not be aware of their ability to be contacted from the 'other side', and it can be frightening to say the least. They may be seeing these 'energies' as spirits both evil and otherwise.

No, personified evil energy simply does not exist in conventional terms and therefore requires no "fix".

The main idea would just be prevention. In other words, for this one, don't be an alcoholic.

In agamic Hindu temples (temples that are constructed in accordance with the body of scripture called the agamas) there is a definite barrier around the entire space, not just a doorway. Once a year at festival time (each local agamic Hindu temple will have an annual festival, lasting over several days) and this boundary is re-established. It keeps the mundane out, and the sacred in. So just like in geometry, when there is a closed curve, it has an 'inside' and an 'outside'. Most temples these days aren't agamic.

Individual yogic exercises can also be used to establish a psychic bubble. Home shrines are protected in the same way. If entities do come by, they will often just pass through harmlessly, or run like mad because the place makes them feel very uncomfortable.

Why a sigh?

Because my OP had to do with what practices or rituals your belief structure or religion has.

The "chalking the door" was merely an example. I wasn't looking for anyone's knowledge of the practice itself. That was another thread.

The whole good/evil dichotomy really doesn't have a place in my belief/practice. To me, there are three "kinds" of spirits: some are 'good' (which means they are helpful or beneficial to us), some are 'evil' (which means they are unhelpful and even harmful to us), but most spirits are indifferent, and some of these at least can be influenced sometimes to be helpful or unhelpful.

Smudge the house with sage, sweet grass, or other incense, make small offerings, treat the local spirits with respect and honor, and so on...someone could do things like chalking the doors, spreading salt, setting up amulets, etc., but I've had to do more of that to ward off other humans than to worry about spirits...
