Famous Siblings

Who are you favorite music artists who are also siblings?

I'll have to travel southeast, a few hours from Sarajevo, to find my favorite siblings. Adelina and Zanfina Ismajli, Albanian Muslim superstars from Kosovo.

There aren't many of their songs that I don't like, but I'll share a few of my favorites. Masha'Allah by Zanfina Ismajli is probably my favorite of her songs, overall - but the song I keep playing on repeat in my car is Partisan (the name of our WWII-era resistence). The chorus I don't like as much, but the beat of the song and Zanfina's voice throughout the verses is so addictive to me.

My favorite song by Adelina Ismajli is probably Miredita. Adelina has much more fanatic following than Zanfina.

One thing I love about the Albanian culture is that, while Albanian women could never dress as revealing as Bosnian women, their movements are much more liberated. Albanian women can reveal quite a lot, but it's much classier than it is in Croatia, Bosnia, and Serbia.

But if you were to put out a video with Bosnian women dancing like Albanian women do - you'd have even nudists screaming about the immorality. lol

I didn't add Genta Ismajli because I'm not sure if she's their sister or cousin. I know they're related, but I've had Albanians on Bosnian forums tell me she was their sister, others said cousin...

But I'll add her anyway, since she's my favorite of the three. She sings a little Albanian (raw, high pitch, screaming) and a little more Slavic (deep, low pitch, screaming). I also love how she combines what we call Jewish (Spanish) and Muslim (Ottoman/Arabic) dances...

I'd have to say the Finn Brothers (Tim and Neil). They were amazing in Split Enz and phenomenal in Crowded House.

I'd say the Bacon Brothers, but generally I need 7 Miles of Separation just so they don't grate on my ears.
