To Save A Lamb
Norwegian Elkhounds. Smart, brave, loyal, and very noble creatures.

I miss mine. He died when I was in Brasil.

I like: Rottwielers (sp?), Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Great Pyrenese (sp?), boxers, and, of course, mutts....*smiles*

Where to start... Cocker Spaniels, Afghans (just to look at -- I wouldn't want one), Collies, German Shepherds, Great Pyranees, West Highland White Terriers, etc. etc. etc. I can't wait to see that new Disney movie, "Eight Below."

MUTTS. I love Mutts. I don't actually care for breeds. From my experiences, pure bred dogs always had problems. I had a Yorkshire Terrier that would bite everyone. I had a Cocker Spanial that would bite everyone also. Both had terrible mental problems.

Currently I have a Pitbull/German Shepherd Mix who is great. The other one we're not sure about. He's the one in my avatar. Some say he is a Jindo (Rare Korean fighting dog; Hope I spelled it right). Some say he is some type of Chow/Golden retriever mix. Although, he has the temperment of a Jindo. They're both great dogs, and lots of fun, although the one in my avatar is a lot of trouble. Neither of them have ever thought about biting me even though ther 60 to 70 pounds heavier than the Yorkshire and Cocker.

I love Pitbulls, they are such handsome dogs, full of power and muscle.
I also agree with Dave, a collie dog, they are so smart, and real nice dogs.
Love Labs too

It's funny, I was having a conversation with Jaiket the other day about dogs. I'm not really a dog person - I'm definitely a cat person, and I tend to react like a cat when I'm around any dogs. We actually bred Salukis briefly when I was a kid, and did the whole dog-show circuit thing for years. I hated being stuck in the car with those dogs for hours on end, and the Melbourne Show was the worst, because one of us would always have to stay with the other dogs while one was being shown in the ring. The dog pavillion at the Melbourne Show is massive - an enormous shed, like a factory (at least it seemed that large to me). Being stuck in that place with all those dogs barking scarred me for life, I reckon...and the smell! I cannot stand the smell of dog these days. Who knows, I may change my mind if I met the right dog. :p But none I have seen so far would cut the mustard. Small yappy dogs are the worst, btw (sorry DarkDale).

I'd have a Saluki over an Afghan...they've still got the feathered ears and tail, but their body hair is more like a greyhound. Much easier to maintain. ;)

West Highland White
That's probably the only small dog I'd even consider...blame it on Wee Jock from the tv show Hamish MacBeth.

Irish Wolfhounds are my personal favourites. Followed by Kelpies and Border Collies in no particular order. Though the poodle crosses always seem like lovely dogs...we did a job for a couple with a Groodle (Golden Retriever x Poodle - his owner described him as a hyperactive 8 year old boy) and my dad has a Spoodle (Spaniel x Poodle), and they're both big, cuddly, lovely dogs.

While I'm very happy with mixed breeds, I hope someday to get a pug. (Like a mascot for my hopefully self-owned massage therapy business that I dream of.)

One of the few dogs that have attacked me was a collie. Ughhhh!

Much like Pippy... :p

I got bitten by a blue heeler/red heeler cross...I wasn't the first person it had bitten, and I wasn't the last. Eventually it bit the daughter of the guy who owned it, and they put it down.

I love all dogs, but I still have my favourites. Among them would be border collies, jack russells and huskies.

Oldest Heretic
Standard Dachsunds. Wirehaired variety, though I have had smooths.
The long haired a vain, the smooths are haughty, the wires are just fun.
But all are brave and loyal.

****zu and Pugs are my favorites. Yeah, real manly, I know. *sighs* :(
Darkdale, I started with one Shih Tzu 15 yrs ago, and loved the breed so much that I added 4 more to our family since then....they are very loving, happy dogs and great with my grandchildren.....and they're not "too" yappy. ;) Our oldest male shih tzu thinks he is 10 feet tall ! We also have a lab, a dalmation/collie mix, a pug and 8 cats.....and recently added 2 cockatiels to the mix. And yes, my husband has threatened to divorce me if I bring home anymore animals....but of course, he loves everyone of them....that is....after he adjusts!
