I assume (and hope) most of us found and follow this path due to more influences than pentagrams and Crowley (nothing wrong with either). So come on, let's look into each other's personalities a little more.

I know that a huge influence for me was the band Tool, though they seem more new agey to me these days. I also know author Alan Moore has inspired me greatly, he as a person as well as nos books like Watchmen and V. While I used yo love the pentagram I highly prefer the heptagram, scarab, tree of life, and serpent more these days. Manson once inspired me greatly, Ghost (BC) obviously inspires me greatly these days, teaching me just to have fun in who I am and society's stupidity. Fight Club the movie certainly was an inspiritation as well.

There's more, I'll add as I think of them. Anyone else willing to step outside the shrouds and get a little personal?

In general I see progressive music as very LHP in nature, that's even ignoring the lyrics.

As far as authors:

Robert Anton Wilson (_Prometheus Rising_... Primarily)

Seth (also known as Scribe27, aka Seth Cardora -- his books are about mechanics and applications not methods... if you want to understand the construction of magic formula then they're one of the best.. mostly for the length... _Chaos Magic_ and _Magic 101_ are the only things you need that'll probably cost you a hamburger on amazon heh)

Frater U.'. D.'. (Practical Sigil Magic is a must have, High Magic series is great too..)

There's probably a lot more.. I'm just not remembering it at the time.

As you walk into my room you will find that I am obsessed with the Joker, as he shows inspiration to me. Life's a joke for him, he is very chaotic and unpredictable as well.

I generally like Prometheus as a symbol, as you know, he created man from water and earth and stole fire and skills from the gods to give to this creation.

Let's see, some of my favorite and inspirational Magical and religious texts would be; The Word of Set, The Book of Coming Forth by Night, The Diabolicon, The Book of the Law (Liber AL). Some of my favorite and inspiring Magical symbols; the inverse pentagram, the winged scarab, the enneagram, the Seal of Set, the Seal of the Order of the Trapezoid, and the Sigil of Aemeth. Some books of influence; The Satanic Rituals Anton La Vey, Black Magic Dr. Michael A. Aquino, The Call of Cthulhu and The Haunter of the Dark H.P Lovecraft, Sigil Magic Frater U.'.D.'., Condensed Chaos Phil Hine, The Seven Faces of Darkness Don Webb, Hermetic Magic Dr. Stephen Flowers, The Psychology of Man's Possible Evolution P.D. Ouspensky. Albums; Don't Break the Oath by Mercyful Fate. Movies; Rosemary's Baby, The Car, This House Possessed, The Amityville Horror (original), The Haunting of Hill House, V For Vendetta, The Ninth Gate.

All this is just my short list.

Xeper.

Texts: The Tibetan Book of the Dead, because it forced me to think of other states of consciousness

Symbols: The Taijitu, because my project these days is to try to integrate my opposites

Books: Many have already been mentioned by others, but I'll add Self Reliance by Emerson because he stands against conformity and against fearing the opinions of others

Albums: Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon was the first to really blow my mind, and is still a favorite

Movies: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest because it's about how to fight The System

Artists: Fuseli just because he's dark

The Heathen

That one isn't bad... But in most cases it is just like paraphrasing massive bits of old work. Which is fine... but... realize you start missing some scope. The authors agenda may not have been what they "quote was mentioned" to represent. I found a lot of that book to be too shallow and missing the original intents of the personalities mentioned.

I'm very impressed you've read it. I've never met another human being who has even heard of it. I found it years ago at the bottom of the 99cent bin at some obscure old bookstore off the brown line downtown.

I loved it.

If nothing else, that book exposed me to many different ideas/people that I wouldn't otherwise have known about. It was a good jumping point for me.

What do you personally think the author's agenda was?
