Finding faith

Hi All,

I'm new to this. I'm 26 years old, living in Melbourne Australia. I'm an architecture student enrolled in my last years of masters. I'm on this forum to get an insight into religion and God. I feel that I'm losing all notion of what it means to be a Catholic. I haven't attended church in a long time (not even for Christmas or Easter). I'm not sure what has made me this way but wanted to see what people think about it. I've observed that many people my age (even younger than me) don't seem to have a relationship with God anymore. I wonder why? I find myself questioning these things now...

Hello,

I think the most important thing is that you give thanks to God, regardless of your religious persuasion, because it is the act of rendering thanks which makes us happy. I don't think church is really necessary if it doesn't make you happy and improve your life. I think what matters is your wellbeing. Watch this short video and perhaps let me know what you think. Does it benefit you to worship throughout the day in gratitude?

Welcome Missingyouth00,

There are a lot of Catholics (and my a former one) on this board for fellowship and like-minded answers. I feel every other person drifts away; and, I also feel that if that person is calles to that faith difting is only temporary. Like straying off a path but still walking.

On the other hand, we have many people of different faiths that can support your feelings either way. Maybe you are drifting to what you are really called to.

Wellx I dont wanna confuse you. When I went to Church and had questions I always went to the priest. They help me put things I disagree with in a different light. So, even though I disagree, I understand why the Church believes what they do.

Share your thoughts and we can pitch in with some general help and convo.

The world is becoming too busy and noisy for most to find time for quiet meditation and prayer, which is sad I think. God is found within quiet, peaceful, personal prayer.

First of all, welcome here to RF.

It is not only normal to question, it is important that you and the rest of us do as well. When we stop questioning, we stop growing. There's a lot of people here who can help explain things to you, but beware of the fact that we do have some snake-oil sales-people here as well.

Sounds like your on the right track.

Asking the hard questions and putting things to a severe test of scrutiny can reveal a lot in the way things stand at any givin time.

Then give it all your worth afterwards, and see where things go from there.

That's a very disturbing reality with a lot of different answers as to why. But the main thing for you, I hope, is that you really don't want to be separated from God. You don't, do you?
