First hand knowledge or second hand accounts

Get the vaccine or don't get the vaccine?

The above is just a tip of the mountain that shows humans disagree, argue and debate over darn near anything...its our nature. If it wasn't neanderthal's would probably still be around.
Most everyone accepts/believes different things and we choose what to accept and/or believe based on what we are told.

Unless you have first hand knowledge, we all go off second hand accounts of what we are being told.

And your point is?

I think we tend to believe what we're ''told'' until we learn (or unlearn) it on our own, later in adulthood.

We use our senses to pick what we think is best.
With our eyes we pick our favorite color.
With our ears we pick our favorite sound.
With our nose we pick our favorite smell.
With our taste we pick our favorite food.
With our touch we pick our favorite texture.

Other than that, we pick and choose what we are told.

So, it’s a combination of both you’d say? I don’t disagree but I think how we experience life transcends what we have been told. If I’m told to hate a specific type of music, but once I experience it for myself, I may come away ignoring what I’ve been told.

It's true that the bipolar dimensions of life are the subject of much Sturm und Drang.

Unless you have first hand knowledge, we all go off second hand accounts of what we are being told.

First hand knowledge can be incomplete and inaccurately presumed to be true (magic tricks, successful gaslighting and such). So sometimes second hand knowledge from reliable sources is better.

Besides, I don't accept the either first hand or second hand. There are times when I use both. When I'm given a prescription, for example, and think I might be having side-effects (first hand), I go to high quality medical sites for second-hand info to see if it supports or negates my first hand experience.

Well isn’t second hand knowledge like literally the backbone of education?
It’s not like I literally learnt Othello by going to an Elizabethan era theatre to watch a performance. I had no choice but to rely on teachers telling me to explore its very heavily studied themes.
We’ve been deferring to experts in fields to run everything. The economy, the pandemic response, some people even allow critics (or friends/family opinions) to influence their choice in media consumption. Or at least which to try next.

I dunno. Maybe spiritual awakenings are heavily subjective. But none of us grow up on a deserted island. We are shaped through our environment, our family, our friends even. That’s just the way it is.
I think the same can be applied to our beliefs. Whether spiritual, political or social. For better or worse

It's not our nature, but rather, Satan has convinced humans to be insincere to truth, speak without knowledge, and follow dark hearted leaders without proof of their authority, and abandon the truth for inconvenience of the duty it brings and follow conjecture and desires. Because this has been "normal" for so long in history and we don't fight the sorcery of Iblis off, we think it's human nature to disagree and not accept God's guidance when guidance of God has come.

We choose to not follow it and equate the guidance and religion of truth with falsehood and dark paths that lead away from God.

It's not human nature, but we are treating it as if it is natural because it's been our way of rebelling against God and his guidance.
