First Impressions

Inspired by another thread, I'm interested to hear what people's first impression of me was before they got to know me. Where I live, what I live in, what I look like, my gender (yes, I've been mistaken for female before), and how I live.

Feel free to share your first impression of me...either before you got to know me...or if you haven't gotten to know me yet. Don't worry about hurting my feelings. I have a thick skin.

Anyone else who wants to learn about others' first impression of them can feel free to play along as well.

When I first encountered you on the forums, my first impression was that you were probably rugged, a bit insensitive in expression, earnest, and honest.

I have since found you to be much more sensitive than the first impression indicated, although that doesn't always manifest outwardly. I have also learned in the last few years in particular to not judge by first, second, or even third impressions, because people's personalities and backgrounds are usually too complex and nuanced for such impressions to give an accurate or fair representation.

My first impression of your integrity hasn't changed. I still have a firm belief that you have it in abundance, and my experiences and conversations with you have only cemented that.

Anyone else who wants to learn about others' first impression of them can feel free to play along as well.

Sure! I've been here for over a decade and have significantly changed over the years, but I would still like to know what your and others' first (and maybe later) impressions were and also whether those first impressions still apply now.

I'm a little rigid in my views of both myself and others. That being said, I don't think I've ever really thought negatively of you, even if there was a post or two in the past which, for some reason, I didn't particularly understand what it meant. You seem more well-versed at theology than me, though, which might sometimes contribute to that rare confusion.

Off the top of my head? A very kind, sweet personality. (Heck, you'd have to be, you tolerate me!)

In my own experience lately in prison, I found that people either loved me or hated me, with little in between. I'd be curious how folks see me on RF as I know I can be a teensy bit acerbic.

My first impressions of @SalixIncendium a hard nosed, insensitive admin with a downer on people called @ChristineM.

As i grew to know and understand you a little i began to realise you were not only a hard nosed, insensitive admin but a hard nosed insensitive admin with lousy dress sense.

Understanding a little more softened the hard nosed, insensitive to a more approachable, nice guy, full of good advice and liking for nature and a lousy dress sense

You're probably one of my favorite conservatives here as you seem to be willing to admit when you might be wrong. So yeah, I do admit some fondness for some conservatives on RF despite not being one myself - including in regards to @Revoltingest and his libertarian views.

Your attire gave me PTSD but your name is cool so on balance you're just about OK. I like a lot of your posts but will never admit to this.

Not sure how one perceives an online poster's location, accommodation, gender...

My first impression was that you were knowledgeable on Hinduism(relevant, because it was one of the things I was wanting to discuss upon joining the forums), you had a fun sense of humor, were laid back, and I soon picked up that you were a neat freak. You must be a thrifty shopper to find all of your unique clothing; I can't imagine you being careless with money.
