Cool. The apple is religion, in its absance spiituality becomes apparent.
But even nonreligious people eat the apple, so the apple is actually ideology, a much more far reaching concept

Religion is to know the will of god and that is the forbidden - and so if we do not portend the will of ...then we do not eat from ..the apple

That's an interesting thought.

Perhaps religion is like that, the underlying drive is to become God, not to worship him/her/it? Not sure.
