Ford car company strike

So what do you think about hoard company gone on strike? How will it affect our economy. Should the workers strike? They say the company could double the salary and still be rich.

What the union is asking for is ridiculous by anyone’s standards but of course they are starting out at the high end.

It will be a long strike and in the end they will get a decent upgrade but they certainly are not getting double pay like they want.

That would put some workers over 100 bucks an hour for essentially an unskilled job you can train a 14 year old to do in a day.

This is why unions are bad

One of three things will happen. Either the UAW will make a more reasonable offer, the price of domestic cars will go up leaving room for imports to corner the car market, or the quality of domestic cars will plummet because manufacturers will cut costs on parts to stay competitive.

ETA: It's not just Ford the UAW is striking against. It's all three big domestic car companies: Ford, GM, and Stellantis.

Nonsense. There are people that have worked for years, highly trained and skilled that you just denigrated. Try telling that to strikers faces.

All the while, CEOs and top executives get 40% pay raises and pay lower tax rates.

Given all the "Green" hysteria, there is lots of talk about phasing out ICE cars and replacing them with EVs. But right now, the Big-3 legacy automakers lose several thousand dollars on every EV they sell. It will be a while before they can boost sales volume, decrease manufacturing cost-per-vehicle and start to make a profit on them.

Or that might happen in normal times.

If the UAW forces the legacy automakers to boost autoworkers' salaries by 40%, while simultaneously reducing their work week by 20%, the EV break-even will be pushed indefinitely into the future.

So the UAW is indirectly going to be boosting TSLA stock. And TSLA is non-union.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
A 40% increase is unreasonable for anyone, and this was the UAW's demand for their members.
It just sends the message they want the same exact greed the CEO has.

There is no intention whatsoever to fix things but rather joining the very problem that created the strike in the first place.

What position is highly skilled other than the engineering and maintenance workers on the equipment and machinery?

They have greater responsibility then an easily replaceable worker on the line, they should be paid more

Just for the record does anyone have the amount or close to the amount they actually get paid?
