Forty days and Satan

How much power does Satan have in this world?
It is written that after forty days of fasting Christ was approached by Satan.
Christ was offered the world.

Not to expropriate your thread here, Love, as I know this is the Christianity forum, but that mention of forty reminds me...have you noticed how many times 40 shows up in the Bible? I've always wondered what that could mean and if it might be related to some deeper meaning in Jesus spending 40 days fasting before being tempted by Satan.

Well, just a random thought there, so I'll pop out now, aside from reading anyway.

None. People attempt to give power to Satan by using him as an excuse but he cannot even use that power. He is nothing more than a footnote in the book of knowledge.

Lucifer ruled over the earth as a respresentative of the universe (not God) before Christ came to replace him. Now, when Lucifer was ruler he was not present on the earth, he did not interfere with the planet because this was not allowed.

Lucifer's primary job was to control the access to the higher dimensions. He decided who ascended and who didn't. No one is allowed to ascend until they have met certain maturity guidelines and this was Luficer's primary job.

Now once Lucifer realized that Christ (God's representative) had bestowed upon the earth Lucifer knew that once Christ died He would replace Lucifer as the ruler. So Lucifer, knowing he was soon to lose everything, rebelled and tried to tempt Christ.

Lucifer thought that Christ might be swayed because in becoming human Christ had all the same emotions that we have and selfishness is very strong in us but Christ was already fully aware of who He was and was not influenced whatsoever.

Booko, I believe it did rain for 40 days.

I believe Satan tempts us all. He will come at you when you are at your weakest.
Jesus's flesh was weakened but His spirit could not be compromised.
We have His power within us if we believe.

Forty. In a few instances periods of judgment or punishment seem to be associated with the number 40. (Ge 7:4; Eze 29:11, 12) Nineveh was given 40 days to repent. (Jon 3:4) Another use of the number 40 points out a parallel in the life of Jesus Christ with that of Moses, who typified Christ. Both of these men experienced 40-day periods of fasting.—Ex 24:18; 34:28; De 9:9, 11; Mt 4:1, 2.

the fact that satan offered these kingdoms to Jesus , and the fact that Jesus did not say .........they are not yours to offer them to me , shows that Jesus knew that satan was in the power of them . if they were not satans Jesus would have said they are not yours to offer them to me . at that point in time Jesus could have gone ahead of his fathers purpose and he could have been really powerful in the world , Jesus knew that he was to be a king at a FUTURE time but the time was not then , and satan was trying to get Jesus to think for himself ,and not go along with his fathers purpose . but satan FAILED
