How does forum life compare to your real in person life? Is it easier to make friends on a forum than in your personal life or vice versa? Is this forum different from others, if so how?

For me its actually a little bit easier to make friends in cyberspace than in real life. I am pretty shy with strangers in real life. I've been told I come across as being 'stuck-up' at first, which I hate, but it's because unless I know someone really well and feel comfortable with them, I am a bit aloof and quiet. Once I know someone well I let my guard down and they see the goofy, non-shy me!!:D

There is no difference on RF than if I was sitting right next to you. I would be as open and honest and as opinionated as ever.

You know, there is a funny story about how I came to RF (got a minute). I was posting fast and free on another religious forum and the acting moderator there kept closing and locking any threads that I contributed to. She then proceeded to insult my beliefs and select me out with extreme prejudice. In all my travels I had never been treated so unkindly. I contacted Rex Admin, (this was before I even looked around or registered with Rex’s site) because he owned RF and I wanted to get his professional opinion and to know if this kind of intolerance was allowed on any religious forums. He replied back promptly (an admirable quality) and since then I joined and the first thing I noticed was how friendly and respectful everyone was/is/shall be.

Well, in real life, I can't turn into a dog and start laughing...

In real life, I can't send a blooming rose to anyone that I want to cause well...roses don't bloom like this...

But I would have to say that there is no comparison when it comes to meeting people whether be it typing life or real life. This forum is different from others cause everyone is open. I use to go to another forum and well, let me just say that I never typed there again. I think I typed in that forum for two weeks and left. The once that typed there made you feel like you were low class or something since you were only there to learn about their religion. Either you believe in their beliefs or you were berated. I would ask them a question about their beliefs and the answer I would get is, "Duh!............" I mean...I don't even say duh...Do you? :biglaugh:

It's a bit easier online for me.... not everyone you meet likes to talk about the "stuff" we talk about here at RF..... This forum has been very different from others I've posted at in the past two years.... gotta love the open and loving atmosphere at RF!:woohoo:

Peace,
Scott

Fortunately or un-, I think I'm the same person here as I am in 'real life.' I think I'm better able to think out my babblings here, though, so I come across as less exuberant than I am naturally.

Not easier not harder just different. Two differnt realities two different worlds. I don't see them as the same or try to mix them in anyway. Which is funny cause so many people seem to try to . I have penpals all over and never have any intrest in meeting them..just like to hear about far away places. I think you make life hard when u mix the two or at least blur them.

Depends which forum we speak of. In RF's case, slightly.

But of course. All forums are almost the same, it is WHO is in it that differs.

You meet different people online. Especially in a forum such as this; a high concentration of nice people is completly impossible to find in any given community. Its more difficult to make friends online, I find anyway, because to address someone 1on1 is a lot more personal I find. In real life you just gotta make eye contact and say hi, be bouncy and hyper and people either love ya or hate ya :).

I mean it's not any more difficult here than in real life...it's just hard to convey my charming personality over cyberspace:jiggy:

Thank goodness for emoticons!!!! They do manage to add so much personality in a medium without tone of voice etc.
